What is Starimp?

Starimp trojan works silently but it brings much troubles. It is designed to steal password and usernames of accounts on various websites. Starimp checks internet browsing history by going through internet cache and cookies saved on a computer. It copies logins and passwords and attempts to send those using email clients located on victims computer. It sends the data to ulm-haafeulm-haa.com.

Starimp is especially dangerous because it is able to deceive Windows Firewall and because it works secretly in a background. It modifies computer’s registry to appear as a legitimate program for the firewall. It also makes changes on the registry to enable autorun on every boot, even when system is run in a safe mode. Starimp is also known as Win32/Starimp. It is very difficult to deal with because it turns itself off 10 hours after infecting the machine.

It is complicated to notice Starimp infection but it’s not impossible. Starimp trojan deletes browsing history after stealing sensitive information. It is able to turn off p2p share software. Starimp may also interrupt normal work of instant messengers and email clients. Run anti-spyware scan if you suspect Starimp trojan being on board your computer.

Such Trojans as Starimp generally infect your system while you are installing a game, opening a picture or playing a video file.

Some Trojans such as Starimp masquerade themselves as useful freeware programs or plug-ins, but are actually bundled Trojans.

As soon as it infects your system, Trojan Starimp gives COMPLETE control over your system to a hacker using the Trojan, who may cause serious damage to your system. A Trojan may alter your desktop or add undesirable shortcuts to various commercial and marketing sites; Starimp is no exception. It may create a backdoor to your system, allowing the hacker to control your system and steal your personal information. Unlike viruses and worms, Trojans like Starimp do not reproduce by infecting other files nor do they self-replicate and each new victim must run the infected file.

How to tell if your PC has been infected by a Trojan such as Starimp?

Slower System Performance: Most Trojans are not optimized and coded very poorly, which causes your system to become unstable, slow and unreliable, as such Trojans are constantly running in the background.
Slow internet connection: Trojans are constantly using your internet connection to send your private information to remote servers, as well as receive data from third party servers, which causes much slower internet connection speed and overall connection instability.
