How to remove ILivid?
What is ILivid?
iLivid is one more browser toolbar that can be installed to most of the browsers. It redirects computer users to iLivid.com despite what website they wanted to visit. Ilivid vimodifies your browser settings, it expands your bookmark list with various unknown websites that you never included to your favorites and changes your homepage to iLivid.com. This is not only annoying but it also leads to more serious problems.
Basically, Ilivid attempts to collect information about your activity on the Internet and send it to various marketing companies that need this data for their personal reasons or straight to computer hackers who can later try to get some profit by using your passwords, data of bank accounts, etc. As you understand, this is violation of your privacy and for this reason iLivid redirect must be removed. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to remove iLivid as you would think first. Most of the toolbars can be removed using uninstall tool that comes provided during the installation. However, the problem is that Ilivid toolbar changes the search provider settings which are not removed through uninstall process. And in some software bundles, the uninstaller does not work properly at all. This causes lots of headaches for PC user.
Ilivid virus gets inside through various sharing websites as Rapidshare.com or it can come bundled with other software. If you have recently noticed being redirected to iLivid.com, make sure you remove iLivid from your system immediately. Scan your system with a reputable antispyware tool, for example, Spyhunter or Vikingpc by default. You should also change your search provider to the one you had before getting infected by this annoying application. You might need to replace search providers manually afterwards.

It is impossible to list all file names and locations of modern parasites. You can identify remaining parasites, other ILivid infected files and get help in ILivid removal by using free Spyhunter scanner. It comes with free real-time protection module that helps preventing ILivid and similar threats.
ILivid is classified as a Browser Hijacker, which means its parasitic damage payload consists of hijacking your browser homepage, error page, or search page with its own, mostly a commercial site of its creators, forcing you to accumulate force hits to a particular website to make it more popular or by using pay-per-click sites to earn money.
The easiest way for a Browser Hijacker such as ILivid to infect your computer is to exploit certain ActiveX controls and other security holes in your Internet Explorer browser. By browsing insecure websites on the internet, users may encounter various pop-ups, which secretly install Browser Hijackers like ILivid on your computer once clicked upon.
As soon as ILivid completes its operations, the overall browser stability and performance severely degrade, making it nearly impossible to surf the web normally.

Ilivid is worse than described above as it overwrites a number of windows dll files – in particular it overwrites msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll with 32 bit executeables – which means that if you are running 64 bit windows apps that use the ms visual c++ library – all those 64 bit apps will fail to launch. This in particular affects Lightroom (adobe) as well as Steam installed games.

I am very disappointed that in downloading what I thought was a video tool for facebook took away everything that had been set up for our internet browser. How dare you do this??!! Nobody will want to use your stuff!! STOP IT!!
Iris: we are not related to Ilivid. The short answer is: they do it for money.
After downloading and installing a couple of (quite useful) freeware from CNET, I found that the iLivid Download popup kept appearing whenever I accessed my AOL Mail account, my Twitter acct and my Pinterest acct. I searched my computer for “ilivid” and found nothing to uninstall. Finally, I went through all the programs which my Revo free uninstaller turned up. In there, I found something called “Iminent.” I goodled Iminent and found it to be spyware…so I uninstalled IT! Guess what. No more iLived. Iminent is apparently iLivid. Problem solved quickly and simply…once I determined what the problem actually was.
