Remarkit popups are annoying ads that you may start receiving while browsing on your Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. These messages display various advertisements or notify about special deals, discounts, useful applications and similar offers that would make you click on them, for example, that you are missing some plugin. It is easy to distinguish these messages from others as on the bottom right corner every of them says “Ads by Remarkit”.
If your system was infected, you may also notice hyperlinks added to the websites that you visit. You will see highlighted words with double underline that will display Remarkit popups if you move your mouse over them. This doesn’t make your browsing experience very pleasant as it will be constantly interrupted by redirections and ads. Although Remarkit popups have no relations to viruses, it is recommended to remove them if you want to browse the Internet normally.
Often users are not sure why these messages are displayed on their systems and if it is not a virus infection than how they got here. In fact they are a consequence of adware activity. Usually such programs are installed to computers together with free applications downloaded from the Internet. Remarkit is known to come bundled with 1ClickDownload, Superfish, Yontoo and FBPhotoZoom. You should always go for custom installation every time you are installing something from the Internet, so you would be able to see all bundles. Never agree to install any unknown programs to your computer.
If you are already receiving these ads on your PC, remove them as soon as possible. Use a reputable antispyware program, for example, Reimage, SpyHunter, hitman or other legitimate tool that you trust and run a full system scan with one of them. These programs will remove Remarkit popups easily. Don’t forget to upgrade your antispyware to its newest version to ensure detection and removal of the most recent unwanted programs. Also reset your browser settings. Below you can find it how to do it.
Using Control Panel to remove the main Remarkit popup components and installers
- Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
- Look for Remarkit and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related.
