PC Speed Test popup - How to remove

PC Speed Test popup

PC Speed Test popup is a bogus message that can be displayed on your computer when you browse the Internet, regardless what website you are visiting. It’s a social engineering technique used to install various unwanted programs to random computers. PC Speed Test popup is supposedly showing current speed of your computer as well as your maximum speed potential and recommends increasing it. Here is how it looks like:

PC Speed Test
Your current speed: C://user/desktop/application/desk.exe

Your Max speed potential: C://user/desktop/application/maintaine.com

NO THANKS
FIX IT NOW

You should never click on such ads at all. Usually randomly displayed messages are a part of adware activity and even if you click on “No Thanks” button, the result will be the same, as the message has only one link embedded. PC Speed Test popup will most likely install another adware to your computer, for example, AwesomeHP, Sweet-Page, CouponBuddy, etc., all of which were designed to make money.

If you have noticed PC Speed Test popup once, you will probably be seeing it constantly, as the message is displayed by an adware that you have recently installed to your computer. If you wonder how that happened, most likely, it came bundled with some free programs, like music or video players, PDF creators or other downloads. To avoid that, be careful with what you are downloading and always go for custom installation. Instead of going through the installation steps quickly, check them carefully and make sure you don’t agree to install any additional programs that may hinder your work on computer in the future.

Remove PC Speed Test popup as soon as you notice it. Scan your system with Spyhunter, hitman or other legitimate tool that you trust. This is the easiest way to get rid of this ad. Don’t forget to upgrade your antispyware to its newest version to ensure detection and removal of the most recent unwanted programs.

Using Control Panel to remove the main PC Speed Test popup components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for PC Speed Test and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
