FrameFox - How to remove

FrameFox

FrameFox is an adware program that is known for stealing personal information and installing various unwanted programs to random PCs. Usually computer users install this application by themselves while they are downloading other tools. Once inside, FrameFox affects your Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. It hinders your browsing by displaying ads in your search results and trying to take you to commercial websites.

The ads by FrameFox vary with every search. Sometimes they are related to your search queries but they can also be completely irrelevant. The program often suggests completing various surveys or taking polls that require entering your personal information. As a result, this data can be used for advertising purposes and in the future you may receive more ads according to your interests. Such marketing is considered to be unfair and for this reason FrameFox is categorized as a potentially unwanted program.

This and a lot of similar adware can be installed bundled with a bunch of free programs. If you want to avoid them, you have to be extra careful even when installing well known applications to your system. Make sure you carefully go through the installation steps and refuse installing any additional tools if they are no familiar to you. Never go for a quick installation, and instead read Terms and Agreements of every new download.

I highly recommend removing FrameFox from your system once you detect its ads on your computer. First of all, uninstall it from Control Panel. In some cases the uninstallers are broken and you will have to use anti-malware programs to delete its files and uninstall from browsers.

Using Control Panel to remove the main FrameFox components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for FrameFox and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
  3. Close Control Panel.
