About ContentLens adware

Even though it is described as useful application that will help you to save both your time and money when shopping online by providing you with various commercial offers, deals and coupons, this is not true. You won’t save your time nor your money.

The problem is all those deals and coupons displayed by ContentLens come in annoying manner of web advertisements, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text, contextual or banner advertisements. New tab or even window can be opened on your web browser as well. If you click on one of those advertisements displayed by ContentLens, you will be immediately redirected to other websites that may be owned by various cyber criminals, such as hackers or scammers.  This way your computer can get infected with other viruses or you can even get scammed and lose your money. That’s why we don’t recommend to click on any of those advertisements displayed by ContentLens.

Another unwanted attribute of ContentLens is data collection. Once installed it will collect various information about your browsing habits, such as browsing history, search queries, most visited sites or even your IP and email addresses. They adjust their advertisements according to this information and make them even more relevant and attractive to you this way, so chances that you will click on one of them rise. And that’s the main goal of ContentLens because they get paid for every click you make. They also collect sales leads and generate web traffic.

Distribution Methods of ContentLens

ContentLens travels the same way as most of other adware – bundled with various free applications.  For instance, when you download and install some freebie from unreliable source, there is a chance that ContentLens will be installed alongside without even warning you about that. So if you want to avoid this happening, pay close attention to the installation process of freebies.

It’s recommended not to skip any steps because you can miss some important information. If it’s possible – opt out for a custom or advanced install mode. This way you will be able to see all available options. Also, look for various checkboxes that can be already checked for you. In case it’s too late and your computer is already infected, wait no more and take needed actions to eliminate the malware.
