How to stop ads by Worldbestposts.com

Worldbestposts.com is one of those sites that have clickbait on their front and a notification spammer in the back. It uses notifications to show advertisements on people’s screens. These ads look like little rectangular messages in the corner of your screen with a picture, a link, and, at the bottom, a label revealing that the pop-up came from Worldbestposts.com.

To block Worldbestposts.com’s unwanted notifications, access notification settings. Open your browser:

  • Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
  • Edge (Chromium) – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Firefox – open Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.

You should now see two lists. One is of the sites, including Worldbestposts.com, that are allowed to send notifications to you. And another list with sites that you’ve blocked from sending notifications.

It’s really easy to allow and block site notifications by accident, so don’t be surprised if you see some unfamiliar addresses.

Look in the Allow list. You can block every site that’s unfamiliar to you as you probably don’t want to hear from them anyway. To the right of each address, there’s a three-dot menu. Click it, press Block, and that’s done.

Worldbestposts.com may have sent some notifications to your browser already and they won’t disappear right away, you need to dismiss them. But Worldbestposts.com can’t send any new ones.

Actually, Worldbestposts.com has these same instructions if you follow the Unsubscribe tab. It even has a disclaimer that notifications are used to show ads. That doesn’t excuse its behavior, though.

Know how to block pop-ups

Worldbestposts.com tricks people to allow its notifications in such a way that you might have done it without even realizing it. It has pages that display a message that says something like “Click allow to watch the video” or “Press Allow to prove that you’re not a robot”. Then it displays a notification pop-up, which is a window shown by your browser to ask you if you want to allow notifications from this site. But if you don’t read all the small text on that window, you might click Allow without thinking much.

This is almost inevitable. People are busy and don’t have the energy to deal with deceptive messages and read all the fine print. Sites like Worldbestposts.com abuse that. In addition, some spammers use tricks like expanding to full screen, moving buttons around quickly, and hijacking your mouse cursor. Knowing how to block unwanted pop-ups is helpful, then.

Check for malware regularly

Worldbestposts.com is one of those malicious sites that promote each other through ads and redirects. It’s the same as Onemessages.com, Thenewstreams.com, Topflownews.com, etc. Having just one such site spamming ads will expose you to other spammers in no time. So, I recommend taking a look at your browser settings periodically.

In fact, the ads that Worldbestposts.com shows are so dangerous that they might have exposed you to scams and malware:

  • Fake giveaways that lead to subscription scams, such as Win-gift.net.
  • Fake virus warnings that lead to tech support scams, like IOS /MAC Defender Alert.
  • Browser hijackers, such as Allconverterssearch.com
  • Other spammers.

I recommend using a good antivirus program (Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or another program that you trust) and using an ad-blocker on sites that show aggressive ads. If you watch movies and shows on illegal sites, you should really be using an ad-blocker. Those sites are full of malicious ads and links.
