LessTabs - How To Remove?

Type: Adware

LessTabs is a browser extension that offers certain improvements to your browsing experience. The program claims to be helpful in providing translation and additional information services while you are searching for something on the Internet. Although the LessTabs seems to be useful, many computer users have started to complain about it because the application infiltrates into computers without users’ consents, mostly bundled with some free applications.

In fact it is possible to avoid installing LessTabs to your computer. All you need to do is be careful about your downloads from the Internet and pay attention to their installation steps. Usually one of the last steps of the installation displays a list of additional programs that are offered to be installed to your computer. If you skip this step, they are installed automatically. Instead you should deselect all unwanted applications.

LessTabs can be added to Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Once inside, the program will display a bunch of ads whenever you will be browsing the Internet. This can get very annoying and it disturbs your normal activity on your computer. It slows down your system performance and can even negatively contribute to security related issues.

Security experts recommend removing Less Tabs adware from your computer as soon as you detect it on your PC. Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If you do not see LessTabs listed, you should use antimalware tools like Spyhunter and scan your computer with it. Uninstalling the program from your system doesn’t change your search providers, it only stops ads appearing. You will have to do it manually by yourself.  Depending on what browser you use, follow the instructions below:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box;
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search Providers, on IE7 click Change Search Defaults;
  3. Remove LessTabs from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
  5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose Open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

Please note that a manual removal of LessTabs from Control Panel might not always solve ad displaying problems. One of the reasons is that more than one adware and browser hijacker could have been installed. In such a case you should scan your computer with Spyhunter.

Important Note: Although it is possible to manually remove LessTabs, such activity can permanently damage your system if any mistakes are made in the process, as advanced spyware parasites are able to automatically repair themselves if not completely removed.
