Allsearchsite.com - How to remove

Allsearchsite.com is a search engine that works as an advertising site. It promotes other fake search engines, as well as browser hijackers. As Allsearchsite.com lacks the features that make search engines useful, it’s unlikely that people visit it on purpose. So, if you find yourself on Allsearchsite.com unexpectedly and if it happens often, consider that an adware add-on or program may be causing this.

How Allsearchsite.com works

Allsearchsite.com is an alternative search engine. It’s by Ask Media Group. It can be used to search the internet, just like Google, Bing, and other engines. It’s generally not as good as the more popular engines, it lacks a lot of features, but despite that, it gets almost a million visits each month.

People visit it unintentionally

Allsearchsite.com may be advertised online. Have you ever clicked on an advertisement only to be taken to a search results page?

However, I first noticed Allsearchsite.com because its traffic was related to other dubious search engines, such as Hidemyhistory.co, Info.com, Searchincognito.com, Kensaq.com, Fastquicksearch.com, etc. These sites or Allsearchsite.com don’t look suspicious on their own. But they are related to a few shady browser extensions.

Malicious browser extensions are spread by misleading ads or by infected installers. Either way, people who install them expect to get their browser enhanced, not to have their search engine hijacked. As a result, people may not even realize why it is that their internet search is behaving strangely.

Allsearchsite.com looks like a normal search engine.

Problems with Allsearchsite.com

Even though Allsearchsite.com looks like an internet search engine, it has some issues.

Limited search results

Allsearchsite.com seems to only search a limited number of websites. As a result, it finds very few results.  Often, Allsearchsite.com would fail to find more than 2 or 3 pages worth of results. Compare that to Google, which would find millions of results for the same query.

Allsearchsite.com’s sources are selected by its owners – Ask. I did notice that the results were often irrelevant. That’s what you get when you only have a limited number of sites to search.

Ask, as an advertising site, may be using Allsearchsite.com to promote their other websites to make more money from ads. I noticed that articles on Ask.com came up often in Allsearchsite.com’s results.

Lack of features

Allsearchsite.com has almost no features to speak of. You can’t filter by date, language, or location. There’s no way to choose to search for videos, images, or locations. There’s no news section.

With such a lack of features, I doubt that anyone uses Allsearchsite.com intentionally.

Too many ads

Above and below Allsearchsite.com’s search results, there are ads. They are often irrelevant and take up too much space. Where I would not get any ads for a query in Google, I’d get eight advertisements for the same query in Allsearchsite.com.

Even on pages where Allsearchsite.com would not find any search results, it would still display ads.

These ads are delivered by Google, as Allsearchsite.com is using Google’s custom search engine in the background. A lot of sites abuse it to make a bit of advertising money (though, as Google gets a cut, I doubt that they mind).

Suspicious ads

Despite the ads being delivered by Google, you shouldn’t trust them. Allsearchsite.com advertises browser hijackers like Funpopulargames and ad arbitrage sites like Zapmeta. They aren’t malicious but they are still harmful.

Worse, the ads would often use misleading text. For example, I would search for “Word” and get an ad saying:

Install Download Word – Download Now For Free

Allsearchsite.com search "Word": ad for Amazon, a hijacker, a software store, and an arbitrage site.

And where does it lead? To Mysocialshortcut.com, a new tab hijacker. Nothing to do with installing or downloading the Word program. At best, that’s annoying.

In addition, Allsearchsite.com asks visitors to allow its notifications. I can’t imagine what it needs them for. Except that notifications are often abused to send ads to people’s browsers.

How to stop Allsearchsite.com redirects

If you only discovered Allsearchsite.com but it never bothers you, then there’s nothing to worry about. Just be careful of the ads displayed by Allsearchsite.com.

However, if you find yourself on Allsearchsite.com regularly and you aren’t visiting it intentionally, there may be an adware infection (such as a bad browser add-on) causing this. You should check the programs that you installed recently and review the extensions that you’ve added.

Review them manually. Scan your computer with an anti-malware tool, such as Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or whatever tool you use to check for potentially unwanted programs. If you find something suspicious, remove it.

Check your notification settings and block notifications from unwanted sites.
