XP Home Security 2011 - How to remove

XP Home Security 2011

XP Home Security is a dangerous malware which should be categorized as rogue anti-spyware. Though it may look quite trustworthy and reliable, it will completely bombard you with its notifications telling about various cyber threats detected. However, you can be completely sure that XP Home Security is reporting invented viruses and is trying to swindle your money. It displays those annoying notifications with a reason to make you scared about your PC and then promises to fix everything after you pay the money. Note that if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 OS running, you still have to be aware about this malware. XP Home Security 2011 hails from the huge family of malwares that change their names according to OS found.

XP Home Security attacks computers with a help of trojans instead of being downloaded and installed with a user’s consent. This classical way of infiltration is led by dropping some entries into the Registry, so that the challenged system would launch XP Home Security 2011 as soon as it is rebooted. As you may have already realized, malware is configured to run automatically once Windows starts and then starts displaying its earlier mentioned malicious alerts. Alerts and scanners displayed by XP Home Security are way too misleading to be taken for granted. Pay attention to the ones written below and ignore them because they have no informative value:

System Hijack!
System security threat was detected. Viruses and/or spyware may be damaging your system now. Prevent infection and data loss or stealing by running a free security scan.

Privacy threat!
Spyware intrusion detected. Your system is infected. System integrity is at risk. Private data can be stolen by third parties, including credit card details and passwords. Click here to perform a security repair.

Stealth intrusion!
Infection detected in the background. Your computer is now attacked by spyware and rogue software. Eliminate the infection safely, perform a security scan and deletion now.

Of course, all those infections are not on your computer – malicious program is just seeking to make you scared. If you purchase it, XP Home Security 2011 trialware will make a huge mess on your machine, so it is highly recommended to remove XP Home Security. If left, your computer may become slow, vulnerable to other threats and hardly operable. Please, use the guide of XP Home Security removal and clean your computer from this malware. If you find difficulties in uninstalling it, use this registration code to disable XP Home Security: 1147-175591-6550 or 2233-298080-3424. Finally, use only a reputable anti-spyware, such as spyhunter or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to make your computer clean again.

  1. Hello i don’t know what do i type in the License Name and License Code. Where can i find it?

  2. Ladies and Gentlemen

Your recommended fix, to install and run Spyware Doctor or some other anti-malware software, assumes that XP Security 2011 had not taken control of internet access – as it had on my computer. It was also preventing any attempt to run the cmd prompt. The only way I could kill this beast was to start Windows in safe mode with dos prompt and run regedit from there.

In any event, I am very grateful for your description of the registry entries to kill and files to delete. I now seem to be back to normal!

    Best wishes

    Bob

  3. Thanks very much! It’s realy working. No problem after entering the key. I recommend to everyone. Super help!!!

  4. I have this trogan and it wont launch any programs, internet explorer, ccleaner, spydoctor or even control panel. If I boot up in safe mode will I be able to run anti-malware software?

  5. @admin
Admin – I have picked up the XP Home Security virus. I have followed up all the instructions on this site, but I am not able to start the Spyware Doctor in safe mode with networking. It doesn’t let me execute it…ANy idwa how to get rid of this nasty virus? Tx!

  6. ok so i ive been downloading other programs like Hitman pro but the issue is after downloading them, they cant be opened because XP Security is disabling all the softwares from opening anything besides the internet. HELP!!!

  7. Safe mode with networking is not working for me — same thing happens, I cannot open any executables. going to have to try the safe mode with dos prompt regedit that Bob Eddins suggested…

  8. My wife has this on her computer. I have tried looking for any of the registry entries and files listed on this and other removal sites, but cannot locate any of them by search or in the locations indicated. Any suggestions?

  9. SO WHO IS TO BLAME, OR WHO DO I TAKE TO COURT FOR THIS CRAP,,,I WOULD LOVE A PHONE NUMBER TO THEM..

  10. RogueEntity: I would recommend scanning for threats in safemode. This malware uses random, 3 letter named process names usually.

  11. got same virus from antimalware doctor which first infected my computer and then loaded xp home security which blocked me from web access and now does the search engine redirect thing now that i have removed the swu.exe file which “security task manager” found and is apparently the xp home security file,if anybody knows of a program to hunt down the writers of this file and loot their bank account let me know or you need help in writing a hunter killer anti-virus.to say i am more than a little pissed off would be putting it mildly.the hijack stuff didn’t find anything but maybe i need the people at the forums to read it if they aren’t the ones behind all this crap.!@##$%^&*(

  12. used product key to disable notifications – OK
regedi’ed keys to remove bad values – OK
but now All exe programs show lost associations
and no programs can run – even regedit.

    did i regedit too much?
    any ideas?

  13. Even when I open in safe mode I can not run malware. The virus even pops up in safe mode.

  14. Steve: fake -register using guide. Also, kill process using task manager – you might be able to launch it in safe mode with networking. Or use Rkill.

  15. yups it solved by entering serial number.
Just change to Windows 7 its more satisfied^^

  16. Hi
I got a big problem with xp security 2011 and i cannot get rid of it. I try do download spyware doctor but it didn’t run so i could not scan the system
I wonder if spyware doctor can’t run because of Xp security 2011 and how to fix it. Am I the only one cant open spyware doctor ( I could not open Internet Explorer and Safari as well).
    Please help

  17. Nancy: If you can’t run SD, try renaming its executable to something else (explorer.exe for example). Also try other tools

  18. Spyware Doctor set up says that I need to uninstall “Smart Engine” as it is a conflict but I can’t find Smart Engine anywhere on my computer?

  19. This virus completely deleted everything from my computer. I have no programs and I had already ran malwarebytes several times before this happened. What do I do now? I can’t access the internet in any way. Please help.

  20. thanks so much for the code, unfortunately im a bit dumb when it comes to computers and allready gave the crooks my credit card details so i guess ill be getting a copy of xp in the mail , or something, they never actually said when or how just took the money.

  21. Mal: Contact your bank. You will not get anything by mail, but your credit card details will be sold further. So they might use your credit card to fund other activities,

  22. Hi admin, I’ve tried using the number code but it just says that its not a recognized command… maybe I’m not putting it in the right place? .. how and where do I insert the code?
also, even safe more with networking the virus loads And blocks anything I try to do.. my internet wont even load. But fortunately I have malwarebytes on my comp already… I tried renaming it but that didn’t work either… help!

  23. I found a free virus removal tool for Window users, it’s called Window Defender. Simple enough, download, scan, virus gone.

  24. Thanks!!! So many plenty thanks!!.. I’ve been solved my problem use the direction!!..

  25. Be careful, there is a malware scam that is called “window defender” that is the same scam you out of your credit card as the xp home security 2011 scam. I got rid of this thing after a huge struggle on a friends machine. I was able to watch the task manager processes, go online on another computer and figure what were legitimate processes (which is a huge project in itself) and when the suspect virus would pop up I could stop the process to see if it wasn’t actually something necessary by mistake. Then I went online and researched the 3letter .exe and it was indeed one of their many virus id’s. In safe mode as administrator I searched the entire computer (used the advanced options to look through “hidden, system and subfolders” and as soon as one popped up in the search I would delete it right then in the middle of the search and immediately delete it from my recycle bin. I had already run malwarebytes, glary utilities and 1/2 dozen other antivirus/antimalware/registry cleaners and registry repair programs from safemode as administrator. I was finally after about 2 days of struggle able to boot the computer normally without xp home security 2011 taking over my computer. But many of the programs didn’t work. I downloaded 2 different registry repairs. One of them was a self executing .zip which got the computer working again. For some reason I was then unable to put AVG on this computer so I put AVIRA on it and gave it back. I was so frustrated that I almost put all her precious pictures on an external hard drive and reinstall xp on the darn thing! But I finally got rid of the thing.

  26. Why don’t my regular virus scans catch this? I’ve been infected twice now and it really is annoying.

  27. David B: All antivirus tools need to update their databases against thousands of parasites daily. So there is a gap till they create a “cure” for particular parasite and add it to database. In fact, there are many strains of parasites like XP Home Security. each of them might be a bit different or use different trojans.

  28. Having problem with XP Home Security 2011. It has infected another machine and it doesn’t allow me to access the internet to download SpyDoctor. I ran Avira Anti-virus but it showed no errors. How do I get rid of this mess? Help.

  29. I also need help with this problem,I have no idea where it came from but its persistant. I’ve formatted(fresh copy of XP) my computer twice, but It seems to appear again, out of nowhere- Pretty much the same time as when I load up my Internet Browser for the first time after the Format has been completed.
How does this virus mnage to come back everytime I format my computer?, Does the format somehow miss this virus?. Regular virus scans with AVG(Free Edition) wont detect this shit. It cuts off all access to anything connected to the internet and turns the speed of my computer to that of a snail. Im gonna try another format and mabybe try that License key if it pops up again, wish me luck!

  30. MR. ADMIN,XP HOME SECURITY IS LOAD IN MY COMPUTER WITH OUT PERMISSION, AND IT BLOKED MY NET .HOW I REMOVE THIS SOFTWARE FROM MY PC ?

  31. Hi Mr Admin my computer has been infected with this XP Home Security spyware. I have Malwarebytes and it doesn’t allow it run even in safe mode. My internet explorer has been hijacked by the spayware and is not working.
I have read some of your recommendations on this site and I really need your help. Can you please work me through step by step on a lay man basis on how to remove this threat? All I need is to be able to run my Malwarebytes to remove this mess.
    Thanks …Uzo

  32. I HAVE THIS MALAWARE INFECTED MY COMPUTER SINCE YESTERDAY TOO. I HAVE RUN NUMEROUS ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARES AND ANTI-MALWARES PROGRAMS TOO. SPYWARE DOCTOR , MALAWARE BYTES, THAT MOST LIKELY TO DETECT THIS MALWARES AND REMOVE IT. I CAN ACCESS TO INTERNET FOR SOMETIMES , BUT THEN IT POPS UP BACK AGAIN FROM NOWHERE!.

TODAY AFTER TRYING TO REMOVE THIS MALWARE FROM MY COMPUTER MANY TIMES , I FIGURED THAT THE MALWAREBYTES ,ALONG WITH RKILL, REGFIX PROCESS REMOVE THE MALWARE BUT IT STAYS IN SOMEHOW. AND COMES BACK ONCE I CLICK , MISTAKENLY, ON THE SECURITY UPDATE ALERTM WHICH IS FALSLY DISPLAYED TO INFECT THE SYSTEM BY THE MALWARE YET AGAIN AND AGAIN.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBELM SINCE HOURS, BUT COULDN’T FIND ANY SOLUTIONG SO FAR.

  33. If you click register and then manual registration and enter the key in this article, it will let you access the internet again. I currently have Spybot running on the infected system and it appears to be finding and fixing this.

  34. You can fool the malware by launching an internet link from an email program to get an uninterrupted access to internet.

  35. The Internet, I got a vortex-Shield Security Alert I need to get rid of it and delete it. I can not open the emails on the internet

  36. The computer and the Internet have – Security Shield Firewald Alert (Harmful Software detected). I need to get rid of it please.

  37. Admin,
Thanks for your help. I am writing in regular letter as you mentioned. I have tried both of your suggested programs. It did remove the Security malaware from my computer now. Thanks.
Now a minor issue left is that computer can’t set automatic windows update.

I keep looking to fix the problem my way, but any help would be great.

  38. so i managed to delete all the registry files and remove the home security thing, but i still can’t get access to the internet through firefox or IE. is there something that i am not catching? i’ve run several antivirus programs and several spyware programs and none of them are catching anything. please help! i’ve spent too many hours trying to get rid of this thing

  39. SJP: check your registry for keys related to windows updates. Also, run CCleaner and maybe some AVG’s PC Tuneup.

  40. @admin
I have used CCleaner to fix the problem. Now the securiry alert is gone , but the malware has come back. Only this time less aggressive. It doesn’t stop my intenet connection.
I have tried to run Hitmanpro to clean and Emsisoft , but the malware is still active. I am scanning the computer and browsing on internet , that’s when it comes back. I have to clean up whole thing again, and scan again before the scan is even finished.
I gave up solving this now. I am reformat the computer next thing. I know this sticky thing comes back even after clean install.

  42. @SJP
I have seen something unusual today. After trying for many days, the security malaware killed itself from my computer. I found on other website comment , that this malware self distract in 6 days. Well a lot of energy wested for this removal , it removes in 6 days.

It only left my computer unstable though, I can’t get automatic update fixed. Someone on other website has got the microsoft sent some 3 files to fix the problem. Anyone here knows about this?

  43. SJP:
It comes in several parts: one is removed, another might remain and would allow easier reinfection. Do followup scan first.

  44. Hello Admin
Would you please tell me the name to be entered along with the license number?
    Thank you very much.

  45. On May 12th, 2011, I had the MALWARE xp Home Security 2011. Any of these malwares are EASY to remove…once we get past all the BS that I wasted about six hours looking for on the net. Thisw site seems to be the best, so here’s what the simple fix was.

You can’t get online to download anti-malware programs, so I went to another computer, downloaded the new Microsoft ant-imalware FREE program found here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx into a flash drive.

I then inserted the flash drive into the infected laptop and ran the program. It took about an hour, but it got rid of the vicious malware that is outright extotion.

That’s it…plain and simple. I also had to download IE7 (I hate IE8) because the IE was destroyed by the malware somewho, so make sure you have Firefox available to be able to get on the internet to download IE7 or whatever you choose.

    John Tyler

  46. IE 7 is insecure compared to 8 or 9. I would not recommend using outdated browser. Microsoft malware removal program is not that good, but it works well against older parasites like XP Home Security older strains.

  47. so, did anyone know how to fix windows automatic update issue after removing of XP Home Security ?

  48. This is on my folks computer, but I can’t get it to open in safe mode…I am not the brightest when it comes to computers…please help!

  49. thanks for the info. where can i find the Product Key, License Name and License Code?

  50. WINDOWS DEFENDER IS A TRUE MICROSOFT PRODUCT AND IT IS A VIRUS REMOVAL TOOL THAT IS OFFERED FREE TO WINDOWS USER BY MIRCOSOFT. NO PURCHASE WHICH MEANS NO CREDIT CARD USED THEREFORE NOT THE RUSSIAN CREDIT CARD SCAMMERS, IF THERE IS ANY SUCH THING. GO TO THE MICROSOFT WEBSITE OR JUST GOOGLE WINDOWS DEFENDER, IT WILL TAKE YOU THERE TOO. I USED IT WEEKS AGO AND MY COMPUTER IS STILL WORKING GREAT. IT REMOVAL THE XP HOME SECURITY VIRUS PLUS TWO OTHERS I DID NOT KNOW I HAD.

  51. Joanna Belunek : Windows Defender is quite poor anti-malware tool compared to other tools. Even Microsoft’s Security Essentials are better at removing malware, and MBAM, SD, Hitman pro are far better than that.

  52. I was able to put in the product key you mentioned, and now at least I can get into the internet. However, XP Security is still on my computer. I tried removing it with 2viruses.com, but now they want me to buy a program on that website. I already have Macaffey. Why didn’t Macaffey remove the XP Security problem in the first place?! I suppose a should call Macaffey.

  53. I am sure there are better products for the money. But I am very satisfied with a quite poor anti-malware tool that I didn’t have to pay for, that was simple to download and removed a virus that had taken over my computer.

  54. thanks for the registration key some how xp home security 2011 some how downloaded on my daughters laptop and the registration key worked perfectly. Now she can access the internet again thank you very much. : }

  55. thanks God I solve my problem … i just want to ask .. wat should I do now . to prevent that kind of many viruses??? .. should I downlod the Spyware doctor???

  56. mary jhane
Decent internet security suite, or Antivirus + Antimalware tool (like Spyware Doctor or malwarebytes full version)+firewall would prevent majority of such infections.

  57. alright .. thank you so much admin .. 🙂 i’ll try to download spyware doctor ..

  58. @John Tyler
    Hi John,
Take what you have said on board and want to avoid all the BS that I have seen. I’ve also spent hours on this crap. I have done what you have said but can’t execute the file as all my executable associations won’t fire up. What is the secret? What program do I use to associate?

    This is so painful.

    Any advice will help.
    Regards
    Damo

  59. All my virus protection has been disabled and can’t execute any programs, all associations gone! Have read and researched but everything I load remotely, download or try (even regedit from run – asks me what program to associate with, tried them all) won’t work. I wan’t to get rid of this thing. My wife is doing a teaching degree and needs to complete her work, this is suffocating! Please help!

    Thx
    Damian

  60. entered product key which worked at getting my internet up and and running but now when i try and download something it tells me “security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded”

  61. For me i need to write both product key and Name…

I know the Key, but not the name???

  62. @Damian
    Damian,

    Go to this page, http://filext.com/faq/broken_exe_association.php
and copy the code in the middle of the page corresponding to your OS platform. Paste it in notepad, then save as fix.reg, making sure you change the filetype to ‘All Files’ so it will save as a .reg file. Once it’s save, just double click it and press Yes to apply changes to your registry, then reboot.

I had the exact same problem as you and just now fixed it by patching my registry in the manner prescribed. Now I have the problem of not being able to use the internet browser. Can anyone help with this?

  63. I used the product key and it didn’t help. The malware disabled my mouse, so I used the keys to restart the computer. As it booted up, I kept tapping F8 in order to start in Safe Mode (without the mouse, I couldn’t do it from Windows). I got a blue screen! I rebooted it again and still got a blue screen. I unplugged the computer and waited a few minutes before booting it up again. But all I got was a blue screen?

Any idea how to get past the blue screen? Or, should I take it to a professional?

  64. John: The name does not matter usually.
Check the error message on blue screen. In worst case, try doing repair install using windows CD. If this does not help, bring it to professional.

  65. I tried but it didn’t work because it seems to be a new version so tried to find by myself.
I found a process called jxb.exe and… it was XP Security 2011 process!!!!I stopped it. Then I when to regedit (I did a backup before) and removed all the registry entries that had ‘jxb’ letters (lol). I restarted my computer and… no more XP security 2011!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDD The easiest solution worked, lol! (sorry, i don’t speak english very well but I hope you understand my comment)

  66. @harleen
Thank God for this! Right after i entered the code, my PC is back to normal. That sure scared the hell out of me! I was panicky, when I wasnt able to open any website. So what i did, was I opened Norton Virus prog and click on Leave feedback. And from there i started googling on what should i do. and there! I found this forum. Thank you so much!

  67. For those of you with issues regarding Windows Update being turned off:

Google Dial-A-Fix. This is an accumulation of Windows Updates that have been turned into one easy little program. It’s free, it’s a quick download, and it works.

I had the XP Security deal, and I’m famous for fixing other people’s computers who have malware, not getting it myself. Spybot Search and Destroy got rid of it, I then had to uninstall IE8, I went back to IE7, and Dial-A-Fix got my Updates turned back on. I was only able to access the internet because apparently XP Security 2011 doesn’t disable the AOL browser.

Good luck. I’m just about ready to start only using my Macbook, and giving up the PC.

  68. Ben: Scan your pc with your antivirus or Spyware Doctor or malwarebytes. Preferably with all. Delete what they find.

  69. I have tried using the registration code to disable it but it is rejecting saying ‘not avalid registration code’

  70. Okay, so I’m not even on the computer that has the so called “Anti-Virus” on it, I’m on a differnt laptop becuause my laptop with XP Home Sercurity 2012 blocked everything on there, so I can’t use anything to get rid of it. I’ve been to several websites, and nothing has worked. The Reg key, it said it was invalid. What else can I do to fix this? Please, please please help me!! (PS: I’m 14, so please put this in simplest terms.)
    Please, and thank you.

  71. Hey, my computer got infected with windows xp security saturday, I have gotten malwerebytes and another anti virus thing on a memory stick and installed it that way, I did the quick scan and the full scan (which took hours) and it seemed that it worked at first, in safe mode it didn’t pop up at all but then I restarted the comp and it was just the same except it let me change the time which I wasn’t able to do before, but now its as if I didn’t do it, just the same as before and I can’t get onto the internet to download further software, I’m really close to crying right now, I have so much uni work that has to be in friday and I’m working till late until then so won’t have chance to get on the computer, could anyone please tell me step by step what to do because I’m terrible with computers and I’ve tried everything that I know how to do (no jargon either please)I’ve tried taking tips from all the comments but I’m on my phone so its taking so long, I will appreciate it more than you can imagine if anyone can help me, thankyou X

  72. Rochelle: Try updating malwarebytes from normal mode if you can launch it. The problem is that it is impossible to detect everything from safe mode.
    Alternativelly, do following:
Download Process explorer on another PC, rename it to .com, download SD, Hitman Pro and malwarebytes to the same disk too.
Launch process explorer. Kill all processes with 3 letter names. Once you kill right one, XP Home Security screen will disappear.
Launch each scanner, one by one. Do a full system scan with each (it will take time). Delete what they find.
    Consider getting a better antivirus.

  73. Lisa: not refund, but charge back. For that, contact your bank and tell them you were scammed. If you got credit card, they are bound to help. If you got debit card… well, bad luck.

  74. or u can use your antivirus software or a antispyware software like windows defender or AVG antivirus or a kaspersky antivirus just like that….

  75. Evander Dep : Windows defender – no, it has poor record in detecting these parasites. Antiviruses – yes, as XP Home Security 2011 is quite old malware.

  76. @Erica

Hitman Pro 3.5 can be put on a USB drive (thumbdrive. I tried everything. Nothing worked.Downloaded Hitman Pro from a clean computer, copied it to a USB drive, and ran it on the infected computer. Didn’t get everything, but it got enough to let me run Malwarebytes, which finished the job.
