Somoto - How to remove

Somoto

From the first sight, Somoto.com (or Bigseekpro.com) looks like a real search engine that you can easily get for free together with different toolbars, add-ons, PDF creators, video recording, streaming and other software. However, no matter the fact that these toolbars haven’t been found to spread malware, in reality they should be categorized as browser hijackers.

As a result, user finds himself redirected to either Bigseekpro.com or Somoto.com every time he types something in the Google address bar. 2. Thanks for the guide, and especially thanks Moss, that helped out a lot.

Well, long story, I cancelled the Somoto virus program install partway through. Initially I thought it was a legit shareware program I was installing. I thought it was a YouTube rip shareware program.

Side note: Normally I wouldn’t bother recording YouTube, though I wanted to record a few news programs regarding Russia’s recent historic meteor event. I’m an earth science student and I can possibly use these videos later for future school projects, etc.

Anyway, eventually I wound up using a different YouTube rip program, and everything worked out perfectly fine without any viruses involved.

But, even only partially installed, before I shut the fake Somoto install program down via Windows task manager, Somoto managed to place its unwanted bar into Firefox, and mess up my default Firefox search engines, and I don’t even know what else.

I was able to just delete the bar out of Firefox’s extensions etc., but I couldn’t get the Somoto search out.

Using Moss’s direction, I found the annoying Somoto search hiding in the “searchprograms” folder as a file titled “Search_Results”. I wouldn’t have thought that was it, yet the it was the only recent file in there. Well, problem solved, hopefully, for now. Such a damn hassle, seriously.

    Though again, thanks so much.

  3. I’ve been trying to remove this from IE for many many months with no success from malware and spyware removal programs. It was PDF Creator all along! Many thanks to this webpage and it’s creators. Even though I rarely use IE, it was still frustrating and my internet was slow in all browsers.
