PC Mechanic Plus - How to remove

The majority of PC optimizers are not really useful nowadays, but they continue to be marketed as if they are. For example, PC Mechanic Plus does almost nothing that you couldn’t do without it, so to appear more useful, it finds problems where there are none. At the same time, it’s terrible at finding real issues.

PC Mechanic Plus is a type of software that gets on your computer, immediately scans it, and proceeds to tell you that your PC is in trouble: “Privacy Issues”, “Registry Issues”, and other “problems”. On my Windows system (installed yesterday) it found 779 Errors.

This program has features of scareware – it convinces PC users that if they ignore the warnings made by the program, that something bad will happen. The truth is, PC Mechanic Plus is the malware that bullies people into buying it. Its previous incarnations like PC Booster Master and Advance PC Solutions used the same psychological tricks and earned themselves a bad reputation. Now, PC Mechanic Plus is being distributed as if it’s a new program.

PC Mechanic Plus is just a potentially unwanted program – not quite malware, but still not advised to use.

PC Mechanic Plus is not helpful

Unnecessary programs slow down the PC

It’s not uncommon for people to be unhappy with the performance of their PC. An older computer might seem like it’s not as fast as before. If your PC is consistently slow, there are multiple explanations for that. Maybe the hardware is too old. Older and more modest hardware might have difficulty running new programs. Or maybe too many programs are being run at the same time.

The solutions are usually to:

  • Install better hardware.
  • Uninstall/close unused programs.
  • Remove unnecessary startup applications.

They are simple and basic and you can achieve them on your own. PC Mechanic Plus promises to help get the most from your PC for a subscription fee and it offers fixes that are already available to you for free. Plus, it has dubious tricks like registry cleaning and “smart optimization of RAM memory”. It smells like snake oil, especially when registry cleaning is so risky and does not even make PCs run faster.

In fact, as uninstalling unnecessary programs is the main way to optimize your own computer, PC Mechanic Plus would be the first to go: it uses RAM and processing power, and it’s a useless program that antivirus vendors consider a deceptor that scares people unnecessarily and misrepresents what it does.

PC Mechanic Plus pretends to be useful

PC Mechanic Plus is said to boost your RAM by optimizing it and by stopping unnecessary processes. However, it’s crazy to imply that PC Mechanic Plus knows better than Windows how to optimize the memory. This is likely just fancy language that actually refers to PC Mechanic Plus closing various background programs. Will that make your computer faster? Unlikely. If PC Mechanic Plus forces useful processes to free up memory, they’ll just come back when they’re needed – except they’ll take longer.

Similarly, PC Mechanic Plus tries to delete data cashed by browsers and browser cookies – data that is used to make sites load faster.

PC Mechanic Plus also does absurd things like disabling user interface animations, which is not useful except in the most extreme circumstances.

And sure, PC Mechanic Plus offers useful things like a startup manager, uninstaller, and system restore functionality…features that Windows systems already have for free.

How to remove PC Mechanic Plus

Uninstalling this program will only help your computer run faster.

Unfortunately, PC Mechanic Plus tries to make that annoyingly difficult. You can uninstall PC Mechanic Plus like a normal program, just watch out for the pop-up  “Last Minute Deal!” that offers you to buy the program with a discount. Although the refusal button is nearly invisible, it’s still there – on the bottom left corner. A tiny “No! I want to continue”. Just click that and it should work.

It’s advisable to also scan your PC with a real malware scanner, for example, SpyHunter. This is because of how PC Mechanic Plus spreads. Few people install fake PC optimizers because they trust the program. More likely, they:

This means that an adware virus or another potentially unwanted program could be infecting your computer. If some malware is allowed to stay on your computer, it might cause problems later.
