How Bot-checker.com spreads

Bot-checker.com, as a website, doesn’t have much content. It often shows an image of a loading video or an empty video player, however, Bot-checker.com doesn’t play videos. Rather, it shows these images to confuse people.

Bot-checker.com spreads on adult video sites, video download sites, pirating sites, free anime, movie, and TV show streaming websites, and similar sites that have to do with watching videos. Trying to watch videos or download files on those sites can trigger a pop-up ad that opens in a new tab in your web browser. Bot-checker.com might be in that pop-up.

The design of Bot-checker.com (the picture of a video player) is meant to make it look like you clicked correctly and are about to watch your video. When in reality, Bot-checker.com is a random website that does not play videos. It only asks people to press “Allow” to accept its notifications.

Even then, Bot-checker.com shows a fake notification pop-up at first. It does this because browser developers have restricted notification prompts. They’ve done that because of the kind of abuse of notifications that Bot-checker.com engages in – notification spam.
