How to tell if your PC has been infected by a Rogue Anti-Spyware such as Zentom System Guard?

Numerous undesirable and annoying pop-ups: A typical Rogue Anti-Spyware parasite keeps track of your internet browsing habits, sending your browsing history data to remote servers, owned by third party companies that use this information to advertise their products via numerous pop-ups, toolbars, hijacked homepages and spam letters. It is preventing me from accessing the internet. Can I run Spydoctor from a DVD?

    • August 11th, 2011 at 14:44 | #2

Paul : try safe mode with networking. Also, if you use DVD, put more programs there, just in case: process explorer, Esmi soft anti-malware, SD, Mbam, hitman pro.

Zentom has completely disabled all software except spybot S&D any ideas?

      In no particular order:
Alternate OS scanner, try fake-registration codes, safe mode with networking, rkill, rename process explorer to .com and kill zentom’s processes, try some more programs.

giannis: have you tried registration code? if not, try running process explorer (use usb stick to bring it from another pc, have couple versions of it, one with extension .exe, one with .com, etc) and try killing zentom processes.
Last options – Alternate Os scanners – > http://www.2-viruses.com/alternate-os-scanners-introduction or PC repair service…

Zentom has attacked my system..it slows down the system….how can i get the registration code?with registrtaion code, is it possible to remove this infection?

    • October 9th, 2011 at 12:32 | #11

Yes. Registration codes only disable popups, they do not remove the infection. You will either have to scan with anti-malware programs or delete the files manually.
