Videoz-searchs.com Adware - How to remove

Videoz-searchs.com takes over searches and redirects to Yahoo.com. It also logs search data, as well as uses notifications to show advertisements on the screen whenever the browser is open. All the while, Videoz-searchs.com does not offer any useful feature or function. Unsurprisingly, it has to be installed without the user’s consent – through deceptive pop-up ads or by being bundled with other software. Videoz-searchs.com is adware and it abuses access to people’s browsing data to improve its advertising.

Videoz-searchs.com – search redirects

A secretive extension

Videoz-searchs.com is a website. VideozSearchs is the associated browser extension (a small app that changes how a web browser works). So, VideozSearchs gets installed on the browser and then forces it to constantly open Videoz-searchs.com.

You can install VideozSearchs by going to Get.videoz-searchs.com, but you need to be redirected from another site or to see a pop-up ad. Get.videoz-searchs.com links to the installation of VideozSearchs, but you can’t really find VideozSearchs normally. Again, you need to be linked directly by Videoz-searchs.com. Clearly, VideozSearchs is not a normal browser extension and is not meant to be installed like one.

When VideozSearchs is installed, it changes the browser’s search engine to Feed.videoz-searchs.com – which opens Yahoo. Visiting Videoz-searchs.com opens Portal.videoz-searchs.com, but this site is not ever used – it’s just there for show.

Yahoo redirects

So, with VideozSearchs installed, you get Yahoo to replace your search engine and Videoz-searchs.com gets to listen in to your search queries. If you allowed it to send notifications, then it also uses them to show pop-up ads.

If you ever encounter Videoz-searchs.com, do not install it. Just close the browser tab instead. If you did install VideozSearchs at some point, it would be best to remove it.

Videoz-searchs.com is extremely similar to Webcoapps creations, like Sealoid and Spinyon. They would also change the search settings in the browser and they would use a very similar-looking Portal page.

Adware installation

Like I said earlier, it is vanishingly unlikely that anyone installs Videoz-searchs.com intentionally. Here are some of the ways that it manages to make it onto web browsers:

  • Advertised on free streaming sites for movies, TV shows, and anime. Advertised on file download sites and by monetized URL shorteners.
  • Included with free programs that can be downloaded off of the internet. Installed by them automatically, without warning the user.

Videoz-searchs.com relies on users being careless, distracted, or lacking confidence to trick them into following malicious instructions. Then when it does infect them, it tries to stay just unintrusive enough so that people don’t get too frustrated, kind of like a parasite.

Ads for Videoz-searchs.com are pop-ups with fake download buttons and warnings that you need to install a browser extension. They are ads, but they are meant to look like warnings delivered by the site that you are currently browsing. That’s why people trust Videoz-searchs.com’s ads and follow their instructions – because they don’t realize that these are advertisements and not real warnings.

Not that you should ever install a browser extension or allow notifications if a random site tells you to. Often, that’s just companies trying to get access to people’s browsing histories and to advertise to them easier.

When a free program bundles junkware and installs it without asking, that’s because someone is getting paid to spread that junkware. Bundling is not always malicious but it is abused to spread malware often enough. Be careful where you download software from.

How to remove Videoz-searchs.com

Uninstall VideozSearchs in your browser. The instructions for that are below, but you can do it simply by right-clicking Videoz-searchs.com’s extension icon and then pressing “Remove”. Don’t forget to check your other extensions. And review your programs.

It would be best to scan your whole computer with an antivirus app, such as Spyhunter for PC, Combo Cleaner for Mac, and others. That’s because it is not very likely that Videoz-searchs.com alone was installed. Adware promotes other adware, while bundlers tend to be potentially dangerous beyond just carrying junkware.

Block notifications from Videoz-searchs.com and other sites as described in this post – How to disable Web Push Notifications.

And consider using an ad-blocker or an anti-malware program to block malicious websites.

Keep in mind that freeware download sites are full of junkware and that pirating (including streaming) sites are full of deceptive ads. Be careful online.
