What is Very-important.online?

Unsafe ads

Very-important.online is an advertising site. It displays ads, often potentially unsafe ones. Here are some examples of the kinds of ads that Very-important.online may show:

  • Fake giveaways of phones, gift cards, TVs, and other valuable prizes.
  • Diet pills, diabetes drugs, male enhancement pills, and other medicines.
  • Betting and gambling sites.
  • Fake virus warnings.

The fake giveaways are especially dangerous because they can result in accidental subscriptions. Some of these sites ask you to fill out a form with your personal information to receive your (nonexistent) prize – and then they use that info to sign you up for subscription services without your consent.

Very-important.online promotes some potentially unsafe sites, but there’s another problem: it allows ads that disguise themselves. So, you may get a pop-up that looks like a social media message or a warning by your antivirus program – only to be taken to an adult video site or a VPN advertisement.

Notification abuse

To deliver its advertisements, Very-important.online uses browser notifications. With notifications, it can show pop-ups inside your web browser even when you don’t have Very-important.online open.

In general, browser notifications are very nice. They allow websites to alert you in an elegant and unintrusive way. But some websites use them for advertising in a way that might not be good for users. Think of them as emails: they’re very helpful, even essential – but some websites turn them into spam.

While spam emails have been solved by spam filters, notifications are a bit behind on this.

Luckily, browser developers are on it and are trying to reduce abusive notification content by penalizing offending sites and automatically blocking their notification requests.

Misleading presentation

It’s not just Very-important.online’s ads that are extremely misleading. The site itself uses fake video players, download buttons, loading bars, age verification forms, etc. to trick people into allowing its notifications.

When a site wants to show you notifications, it asks your browser to show a notification request – you can click the Allow or Block button. Very-important.online tries to confuse people by saying “Click Allow to play the video”, “Press Allow to prove you’re not a robot” – that sort of thing. It’s simply lying. As a result, people sometimes subscribe to sites like Very-important.online, Click-to-read.online, Click-now-extra-special.online, Click-to-watch.live, and others without realizing it.

How to block ads by Very-important.online

Delete malware

First, check your computer for malicious programs and adware. Examine your recently-installed browser add-ons and apps yourself and with an antivirus tool (Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, or whatever program you use.).

Very-important.online promotes malware and can cause you to download suspicious files and programs. On top of that, it and other notification spammers are promoted by adware infections. If such a program is present on your computer, it can cause repeated infections.

Block notifications from Very-important.online and other sites

Removing malware doesn’t stop Very-important.online’s pop-up ads. These ads abuse the totally legitimate browser notifications – you need to block Very-important.online’s ads manually:

  • Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Edge (Chromium) – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
  • Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
  • Firefox – open SettingsPrivacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.

In your browser settings, you can find two kinds of website addresses: those that are explicitly blocked from sending notifications to you, and those that are allowed. Blocked sites can’t send you notifications or ask you to allow them, but you can still visit the sites.

Find Very-important.online and other sites that are sending unwanted notifications to your browser. Each address has its own drop-down. Select the Block option for all the sites whose notifications you wish to stop.

Disable notifications in your browser

If you don’t use browser notifications (or if you only use them for a few websites), you can configure your browser to hide notification prompts. This would allow you to avoid notification-hijacking sites.
