(Resoft Smartbar) - How to remove, also known as Resoft Smartbar, is a browser hijacker that alters the infected computer‘s home page and default search engine. There are two versions of this browser hijacker: virus and virus. The latter one is a new version of this browser hijacker. The first version used the inspsearch search engine that is used by quite a lot other hijackers distributed with “free” software.

It works on any of Internet browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and even Safari. It is a free tool that is supposed to help upload, like and tweet your content in a single click, convert a wanted webpage to a PDF file, automatically zoom in Facebook images and listen to a local radio station.

These features remind me of an older adware hijacker, ZoomifyApp. Even the homepage looks exactly the same. There’s nothing unusual about clones of a browser extension being released with just a name change. There’s also nothing strange about anti-malware companies having issues with such applications and declaring them to be adware, bundlers, even malware.

Even knowing that, Smartbars VirusTotal report is still staggering.

The toolbar is considered to be potentially harmful and such applications should be removed to avoid any problems:

Threats similar to
Promotion and installation
  • Downloaded from the official website
  • Bundled with other programs
Potential problems
  • Privacy issues
  • Slow, inconvenient search
  • Misleading ads
Remove ads and privacy

To earn its money, the toolbar redirects traffic to or other sites that it promotes, which is why some consider it to be adware. Note, after installing the toolbar you are not left with no choice but to have this and only this search provider. Moreover, the results of the search will be mixed with paid advertisements, therefore you will never know if you clicked on the site you looked for or on a promoted one that is not relevant to your inquiry. This will make most users’ web browsing less efficient and enjoyable than before. The more ads are present in search results, the longer it takes to find relevant information.

If you read the Resoft Privacy Policy, it, like those of other adware, informs that your personal information will be monitored, recorded and might be used for any purpose, even disclosed to third parties:

Statistical Information we collect ……. including, inter alia, advertisements viewed, pages browsed, search inquiries, offers and services that interest you, the type of browser you are using, your IP address, the URL you have come from and the time spent at that URL, cookies and your domain type and server.

And the fact that interacts with social media like Twitter and Facebook is especially useful to advertisers — these pages are full of personal information that can be useful it tailoring ads specifically to each user. main page and search installation

The toolbar can be downloaded from the company‘s official website but, in many cases, it is distributed using legal but unfair methods, such as bundling it together with other software. A computer user installs only because it is marked to be installed by default and she does not notice the checkbox. Such victims complain that suddenly their homepage becomes out of nowhere and this makes it very difficult to use the Internet because of constant redirections.

Downloading programs from software-hosting websites for free always comes with the risk of installing unwanted programs accidentally — a lot of programs on such sites are bundled. This does not make it okay to spread an application like that’s been declared by anti-malware programs to be dangerous.

It might be not as easy to remove as one would think because the developers of this toolbar are concerned to make the alterations made to be as complicated as possible to get rid of. Manual removal is possible only if one can locate the toolbar in Control Panel Add and Remove Programs list. It might use other names to hide itself from removal and experimenting with uninstalling every toolbar one by one might be a time-consuming method. We recommend using automatic removal. Such antimalware tools like Spyhunter (Windows) and (macOS) are known to be effective. They will also identify any other threads that were installed together with If you choose to remove the toolbar manually, do not forget to perform a full system scan afterward.

You might also need to restore default search engine settings after removing Snap Do components.

  1. I hate this toolbar and I want it off my computer !!! I will not buy another thing to try and this off my computer. I will delete everything and reprogram it. You should have to go to court and jail for fucking up people computers.

  2. To everyone envolved in creating ….

I hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest in each and every one of your mouths and leprosy causes all your fucking hands to fall off !!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I too have had snap do hijacked my browser and nothing seems to get rid of it. I bought spyhunter and an it this morning and it removed two locations of snap do in my register, but also created new problems with my browser and snap do is still hijacking my browser. At this point I don’t know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
I will be willing to join a lawsuit against this company.

  4. i tried uninstalling it, and uninstalling it through safe mode with networking, but every time, i re-instals itself or says windows installer was not istalled properly, i would love fr a way on how to remove it, and would help with any lawsuit

  5. The only way I found to remove was to reinstall windows and files from a back up drive. Windows and files were six months 6 months old.reoving and reinstalling browsers is not good enough. program is embedded in the registry and morphs when you attempt to erase from the registry.
What relly angers me is that i downloaded this thing in software I got on CNET. which is a site I thpought was safe.

i tried several malware programs which were mentioned on the forum, non of them worked. If there is a class action lawsuit against this company I would join it.

  6. I. FUCKING. HATE. THIS. PIECE. OF. SHIT. OMGGGG!!!! IT HAS FUCKED UP MY COMPUTER FOR MONTHS NOW AND I AM SO FUCKING ANGRY!! IT JUST WON’T GO AWAY!!!! I figured out how to remove it from my chrome after it had hijacked my homepage but it took ages and everytime I restarted my computer from then on it’s come up!!!! It makes me so angry I feel like smashing something, literally!! Then I went through all my installed programmes and tried to remove it but there wasn’t a programme there with that name anywhere! So I deleted everything apart from the very barest essentials, yet lo and behold, when I started this up again it was still there. I went onto settings then extensions and disabled some stupid shit thing called ‘widget’, and now it’s gone away. I could throw a party!! Hopefully it will never come back for any of us!! Even the stupid name fucking annoys me. It’s so fucking STUPID! ‘feed snap do’ What the hell?!?!?!?! Doesn’t even make sense!!

  7. The only solution is to format your drive and reinstall windows. Nothing else seems to work. I had an IT Professioional try to fix it and he gave up after trying to delete snspdo from the registry. It is a shit program that seems impossible to remove.

If there is a class action lawsuit about this I would in the effort to put theses assholes out of business.

  8. Ted: Your technician removed parasite in wrong order. Usually, Snap Do comes with uninstaller, which might leave custom search behind (which is annoying), but easily removable from all the browsers. Additionally, it is weird that the technician tried to change registry instead of scanning with regular anti-malware programs for changes first. Thus it I would expect that your technician does not have experience with browser hijackers. Maybe reinstall is worth more 🙂 And no, I am not working for anyone.

  9. you are making assumptions. which are wrong
First I tried to use snap do removal tool which did not I attempted to work with them and all of their suggestions were wrong. It seems they did not understand current version of Windows.
When that failed I went to Norton and used their erase tool again failure to detect snap do.
then I used MS malicious software removal tool it tool could detect snap do.
The I downloaded a spyware tool suggested on this forum it to failed to detect snap do
After all these attempts failed I turned to someone who is very good at fixing these infections. He tried numerous way to remove this software and as a last ditch effort tried to find it and its related files( hundreds of them)and removed them from the registry. When this was done we rebooted my PC and again snap do was in all of my browser’s.
At this point I formatted my Hard drive and started from a clean PC.
Don’t give advice unless you really know what your are talking about and are totally familiar which the problem at hand. Which is why I don’t relay on forum for advice, most of the information and advice is worthless.

  10. Actually, Ted, Norton Power eraser targets different class of PC parasites (rootkits/trojans) vs hijackers adware. MSMSRT is quite poor against hijackers as well. If spyhunter has problems with particular version of hijackers, there are plenty of adware -centric other tools : Adwcleaner, Junkware removal tool, etc. Though more common is the cases when software gets removed, but malicious settings remain, so you see symptoms without actual hijack taking place (like hijackerd search engine). In some cases, browser settings are “frozen” by using some sort of legitimate software as well.
If Norton Power eraser scan was successful and clean, there are no unremovable parasites on your PC, at least I haven’t seen or heard about such case.

  11. I have unintendedly got on my computer which is extremely annoying! I have after reading the literature all over google gone through the manual unistalling of programms after the date it appeared on my laptop. However I cannot remove the snapdo toolbar! Currently running spyhunter 4 which has found 1340 other issues / affected areas on my computer which was not visually evident even after uninstaling everything!!! The developers (who claim snap do is brilliant btw) need to be brought forward and have their fingers chopped off!! It obviously a site to allow hackers and malicious content to easily find there way to your computer!! I will let you know if I do get any ongoing problems in future!

  12. I’m so upset. I’ve tried removing this crap both manually and with Malware Bytes. I got this thing accidentally of course. This has consumed my entire night. And I’m on my brand new laptop which is upsetting. I would like to murder every person involved in and their fucking families. Wondering if a lawsuit can be filed.

  13. Nina : They will claim that either you installed it yourself, or some third party they are not aware about did… this is quite typical for these semi-legitimate adware and hijackers. Try adwcleaner or spyhunter.

  14. I hate and want to kill smartbar and snap, snap their heads.
But its the hackers that can help us.
These ad ons are malware that is paid for by advertisers and the software writer send out these virus on purpose.
And then charge to have you clean them.
