Loteron.com Pop-up Ads - How to remove

Loteron.com is only one website of many that interfere with people’s browsing by randomly redirecting them to promoted pages. These sites also deceptively trick the visitors to subscribe to notifications, which later results in intrusive pop-up ads.

Loteron.com pop-up ads require your browser to support notifications, which modern browsers do. This technology is totally legitimate and helpful, but an army of ad-pushing pages online have hijacked it to push unwanted pop-ups: Check-these-girls-on.live, Blogsfeed.info, Betonethathadfa.pro, etc. Luckily, the pop-up can be blocked, even though these pages are difficult to avoid.

What are Loteron.com ads?

Notification spam can be annoying, whether you accepted updates accidentally, or the notification pusher is interesting but unexpectedly aggressive. But websites that have literally no content also get in on the trend, using the technology not to promote themselves, but pages that pay them to be promoted.

Now Loteron.com and the other adware pages just need to find people to push the ads to. They promote the page and, on landing on it, display an alert for notifications, as well as an encouragement to click the “Allow” button on it. A great variety of page designs exist:

  • A fake video needs your permission to play.
  • A file that’s about to download requires you to click “Allow”.
  • You need to prove that you’re not a robot.
  • You need to confirm that you’re not an adult.
  • Your internet isn’t working and you need to click “Allow” to fix that…somehow.

All these pages are fake — for example, the videos and files don’t exist. The sites can usually expand to full screen and hide the user interface so that you can’t close the page (though you definitely still can). And you might land there after a redirect that makes it look like you’re still on the earlier website. It’s all very deceptive.

After being subscribed to Loteron.com’s notifications, the annoying pop-ups appear every few minutes and they’re chosen based on your location. Loteron.com’s pop-ups often have some misleading labeling and, if clicked on, land you on some spoofed site that’s promoting something harmful or dangerous, usually — not through any malice, but just because those are the products rejected by mainstream advertising networks. Through Loteron.com, a variety of content is promoted:

  • Fake giveaways.
  • Tech support scams promoting fake antivirus programs.
  • Phishing pages (pages that try to get you to type in your password, your phone number, credit card number, and other private data).
  • Financial scams.
  • Fake medical products promoted by made-up experts.
  • Gambling and gaming sites.

How to avoid adware online?

Adware sites are sometimes promoted by adware viruses. If you have an adware virus on your computer, you might have noticed some strange behavior, such as:

  • Randomly opening new tabs and new windows.
  • Links not landing you on expected pages.
  • Pop-up ads on top of website content.
  • Ads on websites that didn’t use to have them.
  • Alerts and warnings that ask you to download software.

If Loteron.com was shown to you by adware, this adware is the real problem and it will continue causing issues until it’s removed. A strong antivirus program, like Spyhunter (PC), or Combo-Cleaner (Mac) would be able to detect the adware and you can get rid of it.

Adware can infect computers either through bundling (attached to another, safe program and installed alongside), or malicious ads. Loteron.com is also a kind of adware, and it also uses dishonest and malicious ads to get in front of people. These ads tend to be posted on adult sites, “free” streaming pages, file sharing websites, others.

Links to Loteron.com and to other malware and scams might be shared on social media sites, and though that’s not very common, it does happen. Just remember to be careful and, before you click on an unfamiliar link, check it to make sure it’s safe. You can’t be too careful online.
