What is Easy Email Plus?

In short, with Easy Email Plus installed, you will notice these things:

  • the new tab page in the browser is changed to Easyemailplus.com,
  • when internet searches are performed in this new tab page, the results are delivered by Yahoo,
  • you may be receiving notifications (pop-up boxes) in your browser labeled as coming from Easyemailplus.com.

Easy Email Plus is a browser hijacker. It gets installed in your browser and replaces your new tab page – the page you see when you press the little plus ‘+’ button at the top of your browser window.

Your web browser is your gateway to the internet. To take advantage of this, some companies create browser add-ons that get attached to browsers like annoying leeches. They manipulate your search settings and log your browsing history, then they redirect you to certain websites and send you advertisements.

Easy Email Plus is made by Webalytics Media, the company behind Stream TV Live, Smart Package Tracker, Maps Now. All these extensions change your new tab page, too. The excuse is that they need to do it if they are to deliver their functionality. Except, legitimate browser add-ons have been using the extension pop-up (a pop-up window that appears when you click an extension’s icon) to do the same thing. And, unlike Easy Email Plus, they don’t replace your new tab page.

The reality is, Easy Email Plus replaces your new tab page in hopes that you will use it to search the internet. It puts a search box in the middle of that page. This search box ignores your search settings and opens Yahoo.com or another search site.

In its description, Easy Email Plus tells you that it’s doing you a favor, that it will help you access your email accounts faster and easier. In reality, Easy Email Plus wastes your time and takes away your control over your web browser.

Easy Email Plus is presented as "handy email app" but is anything but.

Alternatives and how to avoid browser hijackers

Easy Email Plus is not a useful browser add-on, and neither are all the other email add-ons, such as YourEmailsNowTab, Email Anytime, Fast Email Access, etc. These are just newtab viruses, all they want is to hijack your searches and force more ads on you.

Your browser should be under your control. Browser add-ons almost always present a small privacy risk (especially Easy Email Plus, which can read your browsing history and search queries), so it’s better to do without them when possible.

One way to access email sites (and other important websites) quickly is to save them as your favorites and to pin them on your new tab page. You can manage your new tab page settings as long as Easy Email Plus and other newtab hijackers are disabled or removed. There are many good browser new tab extensions, but browsers also offer lots of useful features by default. Another important note: be careful when downloading free apps and programs. Especially when they come from free software download sites. Some of them are bundled with unwanted add-ons like Easy Email Plus and install them together with the program that you downloaded. Others have a lot of the fake download button-style ads that can redirect you to Easyemailplus.com and trick you into downloading junkware.

How to remove Easy Email Plus

To check your computer for malware, scan it with an antivirus program (such as Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, and others). This is not necessary for removing Easy Email Plus. But it does help to check your computer for other infections. Adware viruses come in groups, so if there’s one of them installed, there are likely others. Besides, many antivirus programs offer scans for free.

To remove unwanted browser extensions, you can right-click their icons in your web browser and choose “Remove”, or you can go to browser settings. Instructions for manually uninstalling Easy Email Plus are below.

If you’re getting any unwanted pop-up ads in your browser, you can choose to block them in web notification settings. Check out this post on web push notifications for more information.
