Better-Search.net Virus - How to remove

The Better-Search.net virus is a browser hijacker. It gets installed together with free programs downloaded from freeware sites.

Better-Search.net is operated by ClientConnect/Trovi. Unsurprisingly, its purpose is to hijack your default search page and show ads, as well as track your browsing activity. It changes your search results by adding sponsored websites and interrupts your browsing with annoying ads. Currently, Better-Search.net forwards to Bing.com.

Better-Search.net takes over search

Once installed, the search virus changes your homepage and default search engine to Better-Search.net. This is not a reliable search provider or even a real search engine. Its main goal is to track search data and to show sponsored links.

As Better-Search.net lacks any useful features, it has to trick people into installing it.

Most likely, the Better-Search.net virus infected your system while hiding inside infected installers of free software.

When users encounter a bundler (InstallIQ), they find it very easy to accidentally skip the installation steps for optional offers, whether because they’re in a rush to finish the installation or because the optional offers are so well disguised. Some of the offers offer to change your browser’s homepage else “enhance” your browsing experience. Bundlers make it easy to agree with that without even realizing it.

To avoid such problems, you should always go for Custom or Advanced installation and follow every installation step to see what you are agreeing to.

Better-Search.net looks like Conduit.
