What is winreanimator?
WinReanimator's website is not much different from other malware websites - the same software is used for all of them. Paying 50 bucks for this scam is paying 50 too much, since WinReanimator does not provide any real protection. The domain is registered under Trademax LTD, with headquarters in Moscow - same as UltimateFixer. Strangely enough, the website claims to belong to WinTechProtection Ltd. We guess none of these companies exist or at least the infection spreaders use someone else's name to do the dirty work.
Please avoid this scamware and remove it at once if you notice it on your PC. WinReanimator infection can lead to additional infections, and an access to your personal information for spyware and adware vendors.

winreanimator is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only winreanimator can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads winreanimator trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, winreanimator offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, winreanimator not only does not fix the errors, but it takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as winreanimator, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install winreanimator, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as winreanimator, is nearly impossible to remove manually.

March 5th, 2008 at 1:33 am This is the most annoying spyware I have encountered to date. It and its components have effectively disabled my brand new laptop. WEAK. Stay away from 911tabs.com That site is the only site I have been to and it has officially fucked my computer.

March 9th, 2008 at 10:31 pm Wow f’d up my dads pc but my 3 macs run fine… go figure? yes even my 6 yr old mac. not a single program devoted to viruses protection.
March 9th, 2008 at 11:51 pm Most of spyware and viruses are written for Windows PCs, and not Macs. This is the case with winreanimator as well - Mac’s are safe from it. Although this safety might not last for too long if Apple popularity will grow.
March 11th, 2008 at 10:08 pm I have a strange thing…. If i run my pc then an pop-up comes and says that my computer is at risk and i have to install WinReanimator… I tried all clean ups and everything but this thing still pops up… PS i havent installed WinREanimator to my computer… It just says me to install that. So please help!
March 14th, 2008 at 7:15 pm Same as Janeks problem. I havent installed it yet, it just keeps prompting me too. Also I have webroot spysweeper and it got by that, damnit.
March 15th, 2008 at 3:04 am HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninst can you give the full location? Uninstall has a ton of options…
March 15th, 2008 at 7:40 pm That’s the worst thing about WinReanimator, it installs itself without you even knowing. Once it starts to prompt you, it’s already been installed. If you do “run” it like it says, your PC will oficially be fucked. Follow the steps above, because this thing can re-upload itself into your system without you knowing and without your permission.
March 16th, 2008 at 4:42 am I noticed that ‘braviax’ also needs removing in addition to the WinReanimator files.. just thought to add that for people’s assistance
March 16th, 2008 at 4:57 pm ok… I ran Kaspersky Online Scanner. Once I ran that I saved the Report file (as a txt or html doc) and mannually deleted all the infected files and known problems. you might have to reboot a couple times. FINALLY WinReanimator is GONE!!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 4:10 am having trouble with winreanimator and braviax i stopped some of winreanimator from getting on my system, but I’m still getting the fake notifications that spyware has infiltrated the system. “pervented” gave it away. and braviax is on my system, too, but Verizon isnt detecting it and i cant delete it I’m at the point where a restart will disable explorer, forcing a shutdown, and if i cut the braviax “PD” processes, explorer eventually goes down what now?

August 10th, 2008 at 9:54 am “king” - Generally speaking, rogue program market is a new field for Symantec/Norton. Historically, they worked on viruses, and not spyware/malware programs. However, they do relatively good job, albeit there is delay till they get a virus definitions into their database. This is for couple reasons. First, they have a much larger load of parasites that anti-spyware manufacturers to test. Second, some viruses distribute using couple of trojans and remover might be able to remove one branch, but not another. Fixing of the spyware/virus problem permanently is not a anti-virus software company job. It should be done by OS manufacturers.
