Windows Police PRO - How to remove

Windows Police PRO

Windows Police PRO anti-virus has nothing to do with police except that their creators will soon be investigated by them. It is a rogue security application at it’s worst. Windows Police PRO spreads using corrupt/infected websites, which infect users’ PCs with various trojans and promote this software as the ultimate protection tool against viruses and parasites.

However, Windows Police PRO is not a good tool at all – it’s  a scam. First of all, it is closely associated to Total Security 2009, another rogue parasite. They even share some of the websites. Also, no reputable website will use trojans or fake online scanners to propagate. If you start seeing Windows Police PRO popups without installing it, then it means trojans are already at work.

Another reason why Windows Police PRO can be listed as a rogue are its actions after the installation. It lists random files as infections without bothering to seek out real parasites. It will not remove any of these “threats” without paying for its “full” version, as the keys sent do not work. It is therefore not worth paying for such a bogus piece of software as Windows Police PRO

  1. Hello:

I was trying to use your Windowns Polics PRO to remove the virus from my PC, but it did not work. I even could not run your setup program on my PC. I always got error messgae saying the program is infected. I also tried to run windows regedit to update windows registry manually, but I could not run that program either.
    Please help.
    thanks,
    Xin

  2. Try to download it to memory stick and rename it to something else! in most cases some file names are blocked by these rogues.

  3. @XIn Wang
I had a bad case of Windows Police Pro. I could only access a program for a short second before Police Pro restarted. I deleted what I could find but was unable to get it all. I then accessed “Malwarebytes” which you can find easily. It took 2 hours for Malwarebytes to complete the scan but it removed Police Pro. It was a free trial version, vs other programs that make you purchase their product.

  4. Jim : was the scan slow because of lots of temporary files or was windows police pro slowing PC ? Had similar problem on one PC I was fixing myself. Major slow down due to rootkit and trojans. It was a rootkit Malwarebytes failed to remove completely, had to rely on spyware doctor. There is no single “best” spyware remover, sadly.
I would suggest using free scanners for followup scans at least, and getting a permanent anti-spyware protection. Or a good antivirus at least. Malwarebyte free version does not give that.

  5. Thanks for all the help on removing Police Pro
    1. open task manager : remove svchast.exe and police pro.exe
    2. Delete the Police Pro FOLDER from program files (you can search it in C: drive)
    3. open start and type regedit
find “Police Pro” – delete all the keys with Police Pro
    4. Once it cannot find any more “Police Pro”
    5. now in the regedit find “desot” you will find 2 reg keys delete them
    6. Delete desote.exe and ddldesote.exe from \windows\system32\
    7. After that I had problem starting all the programs because the folser associations were screwed. So for windows XP i found following site :
    http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
    http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_exe_fix.zip

I had to unzip them on another computer, copy them in the flash drive. I loaded it on the affected computer. Double click on the the ‘fix’ file and it worked. My computer is back to normal. Thanks for all the help.

  6. i’ve searched and deleted a lot of the files, entries and processes, but i’m having no luck getting rid of this thing. I still can’t run Malwarebytes and it’s stopping me from using my CA Antivirus. What should I do?

Also, does anyone know what b.exe is? I heard it was a virus, can anyone help?

  7. B.exe sounds for me like a virus. You should try to stop the process at least, as it is not a system one.
Try scanning with spyware doctor. Malwarebytes does not provide 100% removal ratio.

  8. @admin
Okay, and one more thing. What if you are unable to delete some of the files or processes? I tried deleting the Temp folder and a window came up telling me some tmp files were in use by another program or person. Is there anything I can do manually?

  9. You should not delete whole temp folder. Delete files with extentions of .exe, .dll, .sys and .pif from there. Some files in Temp are used by other, legitimate processes.
Sometimes you need a special utilty to delete these files. Killbox for example.

  10. I cannot remove an infected registry keys – local_machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\RootLegacy_AntiPro2009_100

  11. Protected application keys are one of signs for rootkit and trojans in the system. Try scanning with spyware doctor to see what you got. Also, there are more specialised tools, like Gmer or Rootkit revealer who help to find and disable rootkits.

  12. I downloaded the Spyware doctor scanner and I can’t use it. It says I need a smart update and it won’t update after i click run update.

  13. Gabe: Try re-downloading spyware doctor from alternate location (in he sidebar). Or try to skip smart update and scan without it. Then after first scan, try updating again.

  14. uhh ive tried downloading both malwarebytes and the spyware doctor. Neither of them will open. So i tried doing safemode (all of them) and got the malwarebytes to work but after 4 seconds of scanning the program just disappears. Plus ive tried restarting my computer and now the icons dont even show up anymore so i have to use window task manager to get on the internet. Any advice?

  15. Got spyware doctor and the scan worked great, but i can’t get these keys off my registry, every time i go to delete it it gives me an error message. The key is LEGACY_ANTIPPRO2009_100, can anyone help?

  16. Gabe: I think virus is gone, but your registry permissions are messed up. As infection is no longer there, I think you are safe. But to make sure, you should scan with another scanner, like malwarebytes anti-malware if there is no another hidden parasite. Sadly, No remover provides 100% protection.

  17. Was able to delete the registry keys, just had to change the permission settings for them. But now i’ve got a new problem. It seems that i have a rootkit, specifically Rootkit.TDSS, do you know what I can do?

  18. My roomates computer has been attacked by Windows Police Pro and she cannot access the internet to download anything to terminate it and she is also unable to open task manager and nothing in her control panel will come up!!!! Please help us ASAP!!!!! Thanks

  19. I have windows police pro on my computer. I have downloaded spyware doctor but am afraid to purchase anything online with credit card because of infection. How much risk involved on an infected computer? Thanks

  20. I think so: They are planing on getting your cc details when you pay for windows police pro on their website. That is easier for them. I doubt they have keylogger installed inside your Pc, so you are pretty safe.

  21. I came in contact with Windows Police Pro yesterday. Please help!
I’ve been looking all over for how to get rid of it. Every website says something different. I already closed all the associated processes, deleted the files and registry keys, and managed to unregister one DLL file. Now, the program itself is gone, but I still can’t run any anti-virus program without it crashing and being erased, including the Malwarebytes program. System Restore still does not work. When I select a restore point, I get an error message saying, “Changes made to drives(s) F: [a ghost drive] after this point cannot be reversed because the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off or removed.” And when I click “Next” to finally start the restore, it’s as if the program does not know that I am clicking it. Most other programs are working again, though. My third problem is my internet is not working at all! I can’t figure out where the problem is. The internet on the other computers on my network are still working. The infected computer uses Windows XP. Please help me!

  22. Shaun : you are halfway there.
Your Pc is still infected, but I would say that downloader itself is gone. Now you need to remove rootkit / trojan messing with internet chain and blocking execution of programs.
Try scanning with Spyware doctor (download to USB stick ) what you got. Also, try out rootkit revealer or Gmer, these applications are not blocked usually and can help.

  23. I’m going to start from square one and it’s been a long night so here goes…Searching Google, AVG flashed an incoming Virus which it could not stop. Windows Police Pro loaded and ran on my computer. Ran task manager, end program Police Pro. Opened AVG and scanned whole computer. Police Pro opened back up and ran during scan. Scan completed without finding much more that some tracking cookies and one issue in registry. All issues were claimed to be healed by AVG but Police Pro remained. Manually searched and found files to Police Pro and removed. At that point the only thing that remained was the empty file that held it which would not delete. Police Pro did not start back up but i knew i still had an issue since my Control Panel Add/Remove Programs would not open. Restarted computer and it went into a Boot Loop. Tried Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Normal. All returned to Boot Loop with a random quick flash of a Blue Screen. Booted from Windows XP CD and ran repair on partition. With a few errors and restarting Windows setup it finally went through the whole repair and I made it to the Finalizing Windows and the computer stalled, reset and went back into Boot Loop. I have attempted to repair again but the Partition says XP already exists and will not repair. Now I’m also randomly getting the Blue Screen error Stop 0x0000006F. I’ve gone through hardware, swapped my Memory around in every possible way it can. If I let the computer run without booting to CD it gets through the Windows Splash screen and then goes black and stays that way. Monitor shows its still getting a signal. I have extremely important information on my hard drive and fear the worst. Please help as soon as possible. I can’t sleep or eat knowing its not fixed!

  24. anytime I try to open ANYTHING to get rid of it, it cant open. it claims its “unsafe and infected”

  25. Rename executable to iexplorer.exe or iexplorer.bat. They can not block explorer processes that easily – they want you to use explorer.

  26. Haley : rename the program to iexplorer.exe . After install, go to your program folder, spyware doctor, and copy executable to iexplorer.exe again. Then that copied version run& update

  27. Hey, I got rid of the actual program, but when I go to some websites, is comes up with an error message.

    Help please?

  28. i have removed windows police pro with mild succses, things are acting diffrently such as my wallpaper is changeing every time i turn my computer on as well,as i start up windows i get several messages that used to say “pump.exe” but now are we placed with “(name of program).exe – Bad Image” with the text “The application or DLL globalroot/systemroot\system32\gasfkyfkxmpuxrm.dll is not a valid Windows image. please check this aginst your installation diskette.”,yet the program opens anyway and the programs works but its getting very annoying and i wish to remove it,and i have no clue of whats going on,or how to stop this, can anyone help?

  29. This windows police pro is “runing” in my laptop since 2 days. At this stage, as soon as i start the computer is giving me messages of infection. I tried taskmanager but not working, police pro doe snot let me anymore. I try to delete the files, but i cant eithjer. What to do to eliminate polive pro? I do have a second computer where I can access internet, which antivirus do you suggest i can download and how to make it run as soon as I star the computer? Is that a solution. I would apprecite your help in this matter. thanks

  30. Try using process explorer from microsoft, Victor. Also, download spyware doctor /malwarebytes anti-malware or other good anti-spyware and move it using usb drive or network disk (rename it to iexplorer.exe or smth).

  31. I need some help, I have gotten the Windows Police Pro virus along with Advanced Virus Remover and Antivirus pro 2010. I downloaded the spyware doctor but it won’t download any updates and won’t run. I am not to computer savvy as far as going in and deleting stuff. Is there are way to get spyware doctor to run? and if not is it fairly simple to go in and delete the files following peoples instructions above? any help would be great, thanks

  32. Ok.. for anyone else who can’t fix this with these methods:

The virus prevented me from running anything of these fixes because it stops registry editing. I did manage to remove it using ComboFix. The trick is getting your computer to run an antivirus program, and here’s what you do:

You’ll need a second computer and a USB flash drive of some sort (I actually used my mp3 player). Copy your antivirus program onto the drive. Now the key is to rename the file, you will need to rename the FULL FILE NAME, including the file extension. (you can unhide these in your folder options).
Say this is your anti-virus program: AntiVirus.EXE
    Rename it to this: AntiVirus.SCR

SCR’s are screensavers, they are essentially .EXE files, just a different extension. You can now run this file on your infected computer and Police Pro will not stop it, it thinks it is just a screen saver running.

Good Luck! Sorry I did type this in a hurry, feel free to ask any questions

  33. I tried using the malwarebytes software to remove the virus..but I was impatient and I closed the software since it was taking to long to scan…5 minutes passed and it didnt even scan 1%…but after a while i found 2 windows police pro folders in my main drive…I was able to delete one of them…but the other one it keeps telling me I need permission to delete it…and now when I try using malwarebytes..the software just doesnt open no more…I am going to try spyware doctor and hopefully it works…if not…any suggestions?…cuz this thing is annoying me like crazy!…
luckily the pop-ups that are suppose to open from the virus dont open for me…a small little box pops “interactive services dialog detection” telling me to “show the message” and if I click on that all those popups open…so thats ok for me…but for some reason..when I use Mozilla Firefox…Firefox automatically closes and the computer restarts?…I think its cuz of this virus..so I really need to get rid of it…
    thank you

  34. Window Police pro is an awful virus.I tried all the anti-malware methods, making boot cd’s, administrator password hacking programs, replacing corrupt system32/config/ files from the Dos prompt. Nothing worked, the virus kept popping back up. I finally reinstalled Window XP (Do not format the hard drive the hard drive during the reinstallation process). After the re-installation of XP, Windows police Pro was gone and my documents and pictures were all found in a temp folder. Good luck.

  35. Hi all. I try dowloading an antivirus, changing the name, but now it shows me a pop up saying xxxxx.scr is not a Win32 valid application. Any ideas? thanks

  36. I had no idea the Police Pro icon on my laptop’s desktop screen was the culprit infecting it. I also had Antivirus Pro 2010 on it and it they were causing all kinds of havoc. Glad I found your website; I was able to delete Police Pro, then use a real anti-virus software from Microsoft to clean up. Once that was done, I was able to delete the AV Pro 2010 as well. Now my laptop is working better than ever!

  37. @Spidey
Thanks Spidey, but, now i am working with another computer. I did as u said, but the infected computer, everytime I try to play something it tells me “is not a Win32 valid application”. Any ideas?

  38. Thanks to Spyware Doctor…windows police pro is gone from my comp for good!!!!!!!
I didnt even realize it…I think it scanned the whole computer over night and finally got rid of it!
and ofcourse thanks to this site I wouldn’t have downloaded spyware doctor!
    thanks once again 🙂

  39. I am trying what you suggested using a thumb drive and when I try to install the program it stops the install immediately. Any other suggestions?

  40. Lisa : try stoping all processes in task manager that you do not recognise (running under your user, not system). Also, rename executable to iexplorer.exe (in thumb drive).
