Ultra Defragger - How to remove

Ultra Defragger

Ultra Defragger is the latest addition to fake rogue defragmenters. This tool is trying to scare you by showing various alerts about hardware malfunctions of your PC so you would pay for its repair. Comparing to real system repair tools, Ultra Defragger is advertised using Trojans and does not repair system for real. Not that these problems it shows would be real.
Once computer is infected, Ultra Defragger will start on each system startup. You will not miss it : It will start showing various errors when you execute programs or try to delete/rename/move files. The errors range from problems with hard disk to problems with ram, system temperature and other. Some of the errors might look like this:

Windows cannot find notepad.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

A hard drive error occurred while starting the application.

These messages are fake, and after several tries you should be able to launch application. It will also show various alerts, similar to ones shown by its predecessors:

Critical Error!
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \System32\496A8300. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware.

Critical Error
A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.

System Restore
The system has been restored after a critical error. Data integrity and hard drive integrity verification required.

Critical Error!
Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Private data is at risk.

Critical Error
Hard Drive not found. Missing hard drive.

Critical Error
RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure.

Critical Error
Windows can’t find hard disk space. Hard drive error.

For sure these are not real either.
But the real fun starts when one tries to scan system using UltraDefragger. Messages range from scary ones to simply stupid:

Requested registry access is not allowed. Registry defragmentation required
Drive C initializing error
Read time of hard drive clusters less than 500 ms
32% of HDD space is unreadable
Bad sectors on hard drive or damaged file allocation table
GPU RAM temperature is critically high. Urgent RAM memory optimization is required to prevent system crash
Ram Temperature is 83 C. Optimization is required for normal operation.
Hard drive doesn’t respond to system commands
Data Safety Problem. System integrity is at risk.
Registry Error – Critical Error

For example, if drive C could not be initialized, the PC would not be able to boot, same would be likely caused if the file allocation table would be corrupt on FAT disks. Memory optimization would not solve GPU temperature problem – it would just need a better hardware cooler or some better drivers. Under 83 C temperature RAM would not be operational at all and so on. Thus 2 things are obvious: Ultra Defragger shows fake warnings, and they are trying to scare non-computer savy users to purchase its full version. And it is costly too : A full license of Ultra Defragger costs around 80 USD. This is a pure scam. The original infection might download other parasites as well, thus Ultra Defragger’s removal is highly advisable.
To remove Ultra Defragger, you will have to stop its processes first. Start task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and stop all processes mentioned in process box. It likes to use numerical processes, like 2523623.exe and xlsBuqrBdw.exe . Then search for them in C:/Users/[Username]/Appdata/Local/Temp folder on Windows 7 and C:/Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data/Local/Temp on older windows versions. You might want to run CCleaner to clean up temporally files as well. It is higly advisable to run spyhunter or Malwarebytes to remove all remaining infections from PC and secure it from infections in the future.
