Webwise is an adware program that gets installed to random systems together with spam emails attachments or bundled with freeware applications. The program is added to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers and badly affects entire computer’s performance. Webwise displays tons of pop ups which redirect to affiliate websites once you click on them. This way, you experience tons of redirections every time you use your browser.

The main objective of Webwise adware is to collect traffic for specific websites and earn money based on affiliate links. Computer users find this program very annoying, but the worst part is that it can redirect you to infected websites full of malware and other threats. So although Webwise is not harming your system by itself, it leads to many malicious websites that can create bigger problems on your computer.

To avoid Webwise infiltration, be careful about that programs you are installing to your computer and always follow installation steps. This way you will see if they contain any additional applications and you will be able to refuse downloading them. Remove Webwise from your computer if you have already noticed its activity on your system.

Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and remove it from there. If you do not see Webwise listed, you should use antimalware tools like SpyHunter and scan your computer with it. If you had redirecting issues, you might need to reset your home page and search engine to the one you used before:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box;
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, on ie7 click change search defaults;
  3. Remove Webwise from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
  5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

Please note, it is very important to scan your computer with a reliable antimalware program after Webwise is removed as it might be your system got infected with viruses while having it.
