Topic Torch Virus is an annoying adware that was developed by Yontoo LLC which are responsible for a few more adware programs spreading on the Internet for a while by now. The program promises to improve your browsing experience which may sound great, but it’s not the real purpose of this application. Topic Torch Virus is in fact known for collecting information about users browsing habits and passing it to third parties.

The program changes your browser setting as soon as it gets inside, so it could continue its job without interruptions. It changes your homepage and default search provider which often redirects you to unwanted websites. You will also receive tons of ads on your computer leading you to never seen websites too.These ads can contain various offers and discount coupon which at first sight may look useful, but in fact they are very irritating. As you understand, visiting malicious websites can get your computer infected and you will face more serious problems.

To avoid Topic Torch virus installing into your computer, be careful about your downloads from the Internet. The program most of the times comes bundled with various free programs. So make sure you go for Custom installation and check if there are any additional programs that can be installed without your confirmation. Refuse downloading any unknown programs no matter what.

To remove Topic Torch virus from your computer, go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. It is important that you remove all other programs installed with the hijacker, as some of them might redownload or reset back browser settings. Scan with Spyhunter as it identifies such programs quite well. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If you do not see Topic Torch listed, you should use antimalware tools like Spyhunter and scan your computer with it. On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box.
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search Providers, on IE7 click Change Search Defaults.
  3. Remove Topic Torch from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page.
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  5. Search for “browser.newtab.url”. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines.
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list.
  5. Go back to Settings. On Startup choose Open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).
