Search.swiftsearch.co virus - How to remove

Airfind Corporation, which actively was flooding the internet with browser hijackers known as Browserhome.net, Iexplore.co, Securesearch.site and etc. in 2017, has recently came back with another release called search.swiftsearch.co. Like many other predecessors search.swiftsearch.co browser hijacker gets into victim’s browser through malicious add-on/extension and modifies default homepage, new search tab page and search engine to its own. Needless to say it does it all without user’s consent.

SwiftSearch virus browser hijacker

If you open your browser and instead of your usual homepage, whether it is Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo or any other, see a suspicious looking search.swiftsearch.co website – be careful with  the further internet surfing because that means that your Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Safari is infected by search.swiftsearch.co virus. Although don’t worry because in this article 2-viruses team will help you understand the cause of the infection and the best ways to remove the unwanted browser hijacker.

How does the search.swiftsearch.co spread and affect your system?

Search.swiftsearch.co virus is no different than the other Airfind Corp.-made, browser modifying software variants. Honestly, it works just as most other browser hijackers. Firstly search.swiftsearch.co has to get an access to your search engine to make changes without your permission and it does it through malicious Add-on/Extension. You potentially install this extension while downloading suspicious freeware, torrents and update bundles, visiting infected shady websites and etc. Because of their malicious nature which makes malware sneak into victim’s computer unnoticed, you won’t even realise that you got a new virus until you will see the symptoms. Once SwiftSearch extension adds to your browser it starts connecting to search.swiftsearch.co to get the final JavaScript code and other necessary material to overcome the protection and settings of your current search engine. It does’t take a long time and soon after you see the final outcome – different homepage and different search engine.

For inexperienced or unaware internet users search.swiftsearch.co may not seem like a threat, but rather just a new update, which is why they can even start routinely using it, but in reality there are more harmful things behind this ‘new’ browser than it looks. In the Terms of Service Airfind corporation bluntly states the malicious activity they are performing on its service users. That includes tracking users’ internet browsing activity, location, collecting personal information, allowing persistent untrustworthy ads, installing software without user’s permission, redirecting to advertisements or infected website and etc. What is more, once search.swiftsearch.co infection gets an access to your browser it can easily lead not only to valuable information leaks or so, but also to further virus, crypto-miner infections that will be much harder to remove than just a simple browser hijacker.

Worst thing is that by using search.swiftsearch.co you automatically agree with their Terms, therefore if something bad happens, there is not much you can legally do because you presumably read and understood what you are getting yourself into.
