SaferSurf Ads - How to remove

SaferSurf Ads

SaferSurf is listed as a PUP (potentially unwanted program) due to several main reasons. Once installed this adware displays tons of various ads on users’ web browsers and also collects personal data. Ads can come in diverse forms including annoying pop-ups, in-text ads, underlined keywords, banner ads and search ads. If you click on one of those promotions you will be probably redirected to an infected website and this could lead to even more trouble. All ads delivered by this adware usually are labeled by statements “Ads by SaferSurf”, “Powered by SaferSurf” or “SaferSurf Deals”. In case you see ads with this statement on your web browser, it indicates that your computer has been infected with SaferSurf adware.

The owners of SaferSurf state that it is a useful application which lets parents protect their children from unwanted content, such as adult websites or other harmful subjects. Unfortunately, it is not true. This app will not protect you or your children from pernicious content but cause damage to your PC! That’s why you should remove SaferSurf from your computer right now.

This adware is distributed via free software that can be found on the Internet. However, if you have decided to download and install something from a suspicious looking website, be very careful during the installation process. I.e. do not skip any steps and opt out for a custom or advanced installation mode.

If you want to get rid of SafeSurf for good, we recommend you scanning your PC with a anti-spyware tool like  Spyhunter or malwarebytes and it will uninstall the adware automatically. If you want to do it manually, just follow our tutorial below.

Using Control Panel to remove the main SaferSurf Ads components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for SaferSurf and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
  3. Close Control Panel.
