About Rapid Check adware

It works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and even Safari. Even though it’s described as a free application that will help you to measure your internet speed and even boost it, this tool is really questionable. While there are lots of free and web-based internet speed measurement programs, there is no need to download app like Rapid Check. Once installed, it will display various advertisements on all web browsers mentioned above. Those ads can come in all kinds of forms, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text, contextual or banner advertisements. A new tab or window can be opened on your web browser as well.

Even though those advertisements look really appealing, you should not click on them. If you do so, you will be redirected to other websites that can be owned by various cyber criminals, such as hackers and scammers. This way your computer can get infected or if you attempt to purchase something there you can even get scammed and lose your hard earned money.

Rapid Check can be described as an advertising network for cyber criminals. Since they are banned from all legitimate advertising networks, they use adware like this. So basically, if you keep this malicious application installed on your computer, cyber criminals can reach you right on your web browser on a daily basis and that’s very dangerous.

Another unwanted attribute of Rapid Check is data collection. Once installed, it will gather various information about your web browsing habits, such as your browsing history, search queries, top visited sites or even your IP and email addresses. The third parties adjust those advertisements according to the collected data and make them even more relevant and attractive to users this way, so chances that they will click on those ads rise. And that’s the main goal of Rapid Check because its developers get paid for every click you make.

Distribution Methods of Rapid Check

You can get infected with this malware simply by installing free software downloaded from unreliable websites. For instance, when you download and install some free application, there is a chance that Rapid Check will be installed alongside without you even being aware of that. To avoid this happening, you should be really attentive during the installation of freebies. Never skip any steps and always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. This will allow you to see all available options and make changes. In case you notice that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – do not allow this installation to be completed because it can possibly be Rapid Check or any other unwanted application.
