Price Companion - How To Remove?

Type: Adware

Price Companion is an adware that displays tons of ads on the infected computers, offering discounts and coupons for purchasing of your favorite items cheaper or compares their prices and helps to choose the best deal. These messages are mainly displayed on shopping websites like Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, etc. but they can also appear on other popular pages, for example, Facebook or Youtube.

Price Companion can be installed together with many freeware, for example, music or video players, PDF creators and so on. Some of the programs that are known to include this adware are DVDX Player 3.2, Fast Free Converter, Video Media Player 1.1 and Youtube Downloader HD. You should be very careful when downloading such software and always follow their installation steps. If you see any suggestions to install additional applications that are not familiar for you, always refuse adding them. Usually you will have to deselect several check marks as these programs do not ask for a separate permission from users to be installed.

The purpose of Price Companion is to generate traffic for some sponsored websites therefore it includes their links in the ads. When users click on them, they end up visiting one of the advertised websites. Moreover, the program collects information about your search keywords and other browsing habits. Later this data may be provided to the third parties and may be used for other marketing campaigns.

It is highly recommended to remove Price Companion from your computer. Although it is not a virus it can cause many problems for your computer. Run a full system scan with Reimage, SpyHunter, hitman or other legitimate tool that you trust. They will eliminate any potentially unwanted programs. Don’t forget to upgrade your antispyware to its newest version to ensure detection and removal of the most recent unwanted programs.
