PopToTop - How to remove

PopToTop is listed as an adware and a PUP (potentially unwanted program) so this is definitely the one application that you should not keep installed on your computer. However, it is quite different from majority of all other adware. Usually they offer users to save their time and money when shopping online by displaying various deals and offers. PopToTop is a browser add-on that offers you an opportunity to browse web easier and faster. It can be added to all most popular web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. This add-on will appear all the time that you spend on your web browser. You just have to hover your mouse over it and choose one of several available options – to scroll back to top, move to the left or to the right or to refresh web page. It’s like some navigation bar. It might be useful (although you can complete same actions with keys on your keyboard even faster), but it has some major downsides that make this application unbearable. First of all, it will display various advertisements on your web browsers in a lot of different ways, such as pop-up, pop-under, in-text, banner or context advertisements. They are both annoying and malicious. You probably have figured out by now that PopToTop is completely free for users. So what’s the point of this application? How do the owners of it make money? That’s right – by displaying ads. The tool is sponsored by the third parties for displaying their ads. And it is not a secret that a lot of cyber criminals, such as hackers or scammer use this advertising network to promote their products or services. That’s why you should not click on those ads. If you do so, you will be immediately redirected to third parties websites, that may be infected and cause harm to your computer or you can even get scammed if you attempt to purchase something on one of those websites. Sometimes it might be difficult not to click on those ads, because they look very appealing. Don’t fall for that – offers displayed on those ads most of the time are fake and you will gain no benefit from them. Clicking on them is the main goal of PopToTop. Its developers try to build as big audience as possible, trick the users and make them click on those ads, because they get paid for every click you make. They generate web traffic and collect sales leads.

If you pay a visit to the tool’s official website, you can see that there is no valid contact information. This means that if something unwanted happens due to this browser add-on (for instance, you lose your money or your computer gets infected) no one will take responsibility for that. And that’s a very bad sign. Also, take a look at their privacy policy, you will find some very interesting facts there. See the column about data collection?

PopToTop

Basically this means, that your private information, such as browsing history, search queries, Top visited sites, email and IP addresses or even your geographic location will be collected and shared or sold to third parties. They adjust their ads according to the given data, make them more relevant and attractive to you based on your web browsing habits. That’s why those ads look so appealing. Furthermore, in case your private information is sold to third parties, you will receive various spam letters to your mail box and you will be vulnerable. It’s easier for cyber criminals to attack you when they know a lot of information about you. That’s why PopToTop is listed as a potentially unwanted application and you should not keep it on your computer. It is not difficult to notice if your browsers are infected with this malicious program – those ads displayed by this adware are usually labeled with a slogan “Ads by PopToTop” or “Brought to you by PopToTop”. If you noticed this, your computer is definitely infected with this malware and you have to take needed actions to get rid of it right now.

You can download PopToTop directly from its official website, but usually its not the case. It is distributed bundled with other free applications that can be downloaded from the Internet. Usually it’s some PDF generator, media player or a fake Flash update. It would be wise not to download anything from suspicious looking websites at all, but if you have no other option – be very attentive during the installation of such a software. Always opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible – this way you will be able to see all available options. Do not skip any steps (don’t just click “next” or “agree” all the time without reading the whole information first) because you might miss something important. Read all terms and conditions as well. Look for various check boxes that can be already checked for you. Some of the information can be displayed in a very tiny font that is barely visible, so don’t rush. If you see that some additional software that you are not aware of is being installed alongside – do not allow it, as it can possibly be PopToTop or any other malware. In case it is too late and your computer is already infected, get rid of this unwanted browser add-on right now. You can do it either manually or automatically. If you are not an advanced computer user, we recommend choosing to perform this automatically, because it is an easier and more efficient way. Download a trustworthy anti-malware, such as Spyhunter, ]rev name=Malwarebytes] or StopZilla and scan your PC with it. It will automatically detect and remove the virus. Anti-malware program will also protect your computer from similar infections in the future. However, if for some reasons you don’t want to download any additional software to complete this, follow our manual PopToTop removal guide given below and get rid of it right now.
