PC Power Speed is a registry cleaner that is installed without good enough explanation what it does and why it is installed. This makes PC Power Speed a “PUP” – a program, that potentially deceives user into using it. In some cases people might be unaware that they got this program installed and wonder why they get messages about system errors too.
The program is distributed bundled with many free software that you can download from the Internet. The problem about it is that many programs do not clearly disclose about these bundles. Users should be more careful when installing freeware and always follow their installation steps. You should deselect all options that offer additional downloads, unless you know it is a reliable and useful program.
PC Power Speed runs a scan automatically as soon as it gets into the system. It pretends scanning computer and reports to detect a bunch of errors and other problems that as it says cause computer slowdown and other issues. To solve the problem, it offers registering a full version of PC Power Speed which you have to pay for. It says to increase your computer speed, fix errors and crashes, repair your registry, etc. However, the truth is, it only want to get some money from you.
Windows systems do not need registry cleaning, even if such programs claim otherwise. In rare cases these program could help (e.g. major problem with system registry after malware attack). However, registry defragmentation or deleting empty keys is mostly useless.
It is recommended to remove PC Power Speed from your computer immediately after its detection on the system. At first, try uninstalling it from Programs list in Control Panel. Then you should run a full system scan with a reputable antispyware program, for example, Spyhunter. Don’t forget that upgrading your antispyware is essential for detecting most recent infections. If you have already paid for PC Power Speed, contact your credit card company and dispute the charges.
