Music Remote - How to remove

Music Remote is listed as an adware and a PUP (potentially unwanted program) due to several malicious attributes. It works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It is described as an add-on that should allow you to listen to various music for free, make your own playlists, and experience other useful options. We have tested a web-based version of this application (you can find it at http://play.ialbums.com/#!everyone).

It works but with some difficulties. And it just displays you a youtube music video by the name you have requested, not an actual song. After a while, you will be asked to sign in to this website and get that Music Remote add-on, that will allow you to listen to music on any website when browsing the Internet. However, there are some major disadvantages of this add-on, that looks useful and handful at a first sight. Alas, these attributes will soon disappoint you.

Once installed, this add-on will display various advertisements on your web browser from time to time, randomly. Those ads can be shown in various forms, such as in-text, pop-up, pop-under and banner ads. You should not click on them, because if you do so, you will be immediately redirected to third parties websites that may be infected and cause some damage to your computer. Or you can even get scammed if you try to purchase something on one of those third parties websites.

The problem is that Music Remote is sponsored by third parties for displaying those ads and it is not a secret that various cyber criminals use advertising networks like this to promote their products or/and services. Usually those ads look very appealing, they offer you to purchase some goods at a very nice price rate. You should know that it is just a trick to get your attention and scam you. Usually there are no goods at all, those ads are fake. They look attractive and relevant to your interests because once installed Music Remote will collect your personal information, such as browsing history, search queries, top visited sites, your IP and email addresses or even your geographic location. Those ads are adjusted based on this information, so they look relevant to your browsing habits and the possibility that you will click on one of those ads rises. This is the main goal of Music Remote – to make you click on those ads, because the  owners of this tool get paid for every click you make. The adware is programmed to generate web traffic and collect sales leads. Furthermore, your personal information like email address can be sold to third parties and this puts you into an actual risk of getting infected with various viruses or getting scammed.

Music Remote

As most other adware, Music Remote is distributed using unfair distribution methods. It is travelling bundled with other free software. I.e. when you download and install some freebie, there is a chance that Music Remote will be installed behind your back. To avoid this happening, you should avoid getting software downloaded from suspicious looking websites. However, if you have no other option, be very careful installing free tools. Music Remote is usually distributed together with PDF generators, media players or fake Flash upgrades. Do not skip any steps (don’t just click “next and “agree” all the time before reading the whole thing first) and opt out for a custom or advanced install mode if possible. This will allow you to see all available options. Look very closely, because some information that is very important can be displayed in a very tiny font, that is barely visible. Look for various check boxes that can be already checked for you. If you see that some additional software is being installed alongside and you are not aware of it – do not allow it, as it can be Music Remote or any other malware. In case it is too late and your computer is already infected, you should wait no more and get rid of this malicious add-on. You can do it either way – manually or automatically. We suggest to complete this automatically, because it is a more efficient and reliable way to do this. Download a trustworthy anti-malware, such as Spyhunter, StopZilla or Malwarebytes and install it. Then scan your computer with it and it will automatically detect and remove the threat. It will protect your system from similar infections in the future as well. However, if for some reasons you don’t want to download any additional software to complete this, you can just delete it manually.
