Media Enhance adware - How to remove

Media Enhance adware

Media Enhance adware is responsible for in-line ads labeled as “Ads by Media Enhance” or “Media Enhance Deals”. Typically, these advertisements are visible on all browsers, though the way they are displayed differs. The ads are shown on shopping portals and when performing searches, typically in hopes that you will use a low quality and a low traffic shopping site for various discounts.

I would not trust Media Enhance ads as they offer generic discounts only (anyone can get such discounts without ad-ons) but they do not shy from modifying other sites offering similar and potentially better things. The makers of the adware do not perform actual comparison of quality or price. The single thing they compare is the commission for the goods you would buy.

Typically, one gets infected with Media Enhance by Trojan bundles. Such bundles are disguised as various downloads for videos or programs and install lots of “free offers” that are malicious programs. Such a downloader will claim that Media Enhance will improve your browsing without disclosing that it will show ads and popups and modify the pages you browse to lead to unwanted e-shops.

To get rid of Media Enhance one should uninstall it from Control Panel. In some cases the uninstallers are broken and you will have to use anti-malware programs to delete its files as well as uninstall it from browsers. Additionally, it would help you to get rid of hijackers and other computer parasites that are using the same bundle and are more difficult to remove manually. This software might be distributed with Conduit malware, other adware and aggressively promoted registry cleaners.

Using Control Panel to remove the main Media Enhance adware components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for Media Enhance and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
