Master Penalty Document is a ransomware that causes system lockdown and attempt to get money from computer users. It’s one of those malicious programs that blame you for using copyrighted content without having rights for that and tries to make you pay a fine, this way earning the money. This time, computer hackers used the names of well known organizations SOPA and PIPA that are actually dealing with illegal activities related to copyrighted software. However, these names were taken without consent of these companies.

Master Penalty Document enters computer systems over Trojan viruses. It often comes bundled with some free programs and other downloads. Computer users have no idea when this malicious program is entering their machines. Once inside, Master Penalty Document locks the system down and displays a message saying that SOPA and PIPA has detected that you used piracy content on your computer. It disables all the programs on your computer and does not allow to do anything there. Here’s how the original message by Master Penalty Document looks like:

SOPA (Software Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT Intellectual Property Act) has detected that you used piracy content on your computer such as:
Operating system (OS) which has NOT been installed IN LEGAL WAY: Child Porno materials (CP) on your PC, Software you used right now (installed with OS) ARE NOT LEGITIMATE. Your system HAS BEEN LOCKED and your data has been encrypted. To unlock your PC, decrypt your data and avoid arrest you MUST pay a penalty of 100 EURO. You can choose one of payment methods below:
PaySafeCard, Ukash, CashU or MoneyPack. You should buy a voucher in many places near you: Walmart, OMV, 7 eleven, ESSO, Avia, epay, kiosks. Enter-code below to unlock your PC.

Do not fall for this scam. You must remove Master Penalty Document as it’s a dangerous application created by cyber criminals and it can cause loss of money for you. If you have more than one account on your computer, you can try launching a reputable antispyware program such as,  Spyhunter, from there. If you are not able to do that, follow these steps for the easiest removal:

1. Restart your computer, press F8 while it is restarting
2. Choose safe mode with networking
3. Launch MSConfig
4. Disable startup items rundll32 turning on any application from Application Data;
5. Restart your computer again.
7. Scan with https://www.2-viruses.com/downloads/spyhunter-i.exe to find the file and remove it
