Adware Lollipop is a known advertisement platform that is distributed through various “free” downloads. Typically, shadier program distribution pages repackage downloads to make some money from them and quite often include more than one additional “offer”. One of such programs is Lollipop – an advertisement distribution platform. Even if you have to “confirm” that you want to install this program the choice is hidden in screens that are skipped through. It will not come from spam emails and I doubt it can be downloaded by other Trojans though. After you get this adware installed, you will see additional advertisements, which are annoying usually and dangerous sometimes. Many of similar advertisement networks do poor job at securing their “customers” from malicious urls or media. Thus we do not recommend installing or keeping Lollipop on your PC.
Another issue with Lollipop is that it is not the application that will be distributed among those of a first-choice for making money from apps. Rather it will follow many other, more aggressive potentially unwanted programs. This means that once you see its ads you can be sure that your PC is infected with various hijackers, coupon programs or other adware. For example, Lollipop might be distributed with Delta Search, DealPly, Babylon or other unwanted software. Thus I recommend scanning your PC with anti-malware program ( Spyhunter, Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner). While Lollipop itself might be easy to uninstall from control panel, the related malware is not.
In some cases Lollipop installer does not install the adware. The malware tends to be distributed in some countries (e.g. France) rather than infect computers worldwide. However the tendency might change, besides other above mentioned parasites target computers without taking into consideration geographic location.
