Infoaxe hijacker is a new version of Flipora hijacker which appeared on the Internet few months ago. Just like the latter one, the program gets into computers bundled with free software from the Internet or with spam attachments. Both programs also hijack Facebook accounts and even share the same logo.

Once inside the computer, Infoaxe hijacker changes browser settings of the infected computer which enables it to take control over your searches, change your homepage and search provider, and make some redirects. You will manly be redirected to the following websites: static.infoaxe.com, static2.infobox.com, infoaxe.com and few others. The same pages will replace your homepage and default search engine. All these changes can be applied to Internet Explorer Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

The most dangerous part about Infoaxe hijacker it that it is able to get access to some sensitive information, like your passwords or credit card details, and distribute it to third parties. This not only poses risk to your security but can also be used later for marketing purposes. What is more, Infoaxe hijacker interrupts into your search results. It adds many sponsored websites trying to make you visit these pages. This is very time consuming and it doesn;t allow you to make any searches properly.

Remove Infoaxe hijacker as soon as you notice its traces on your system. You should remove any suspicious entries related to this malicious application and perform a full system scan with a reputable antispyware program, for example, Spyhunter. Depending on which browser you are using follow the instructions below to remove any extensions and malicious files from Control Panel:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box
  2. Do following: On IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, On ie7 click change search defaults
  3. Remove the Infoaxe from the list

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it.
  5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list
  5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).
