Ib.Adnxs virus is an advertising platform that is used o displays malicious pop up messages on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. The program is distributed to computers using several methods. Usually it happens through malicious websites or spam emails that have infected attachments. Another way it by convincing computer users that it’s a useful software that you need or simply by bundling it to other applications.

The ads by Ib.Adnxs virus are displayed on computers whenever you are making some search on Google search engine or visiting some website. Usually, this means that your computer is infected with with some adware or other potentially unwanted application, like Sirefef, Pihar, Tracur etc.

Although Ib.Adnxs.com is not a considered to be a dangerous website and it doesn’t contain any infections, you should know that it is owned by cyber criminals. It is used as a tracking website. Ib.Adnxs virus seeks to collect information about your browsing habits and later uses this data for marketing purposes. This leads to tons of ads displayed on your computer in future. You should remove Ib.Adnxs virus from your computer immediately after noticing its traces on your system.

Go to Control Panel -> Add and Remove programs list and uninstall it from there. You should also check browser extensions for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and remove it from there. If you do not see Ib.Adnxs virus listed, you should use antimalware tools like Spyhunter and scan your computer with it. If you had redirecting issues, you might need to reset your home page and search engine to the one you used before:

On Internet explorer:

  1. Click arrow on the right of search box;
  2. Do the following: on IE8-9 choose Manage Search providers, on ie7 click change search defaults;
  3. Remove Ib.Adnxs.com from the list.

On Firefox :

  1. Enter “about:config” in url bar. This will open settings page;
  2. Type “Keyword.url” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  3. Type “browser.search.defaultengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  4. Type “browser.search.selectedengine” in the search box. Right click it & reset it;
  5. Search for ‘browser.newtab.url’. Right-click and reset. This will make sure that the search page won’t launch on each new tab.

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click 3 horizontal lines icon on browser toolbar;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Select Basics ->Manage Search engines;
  4. Remove unnecessary search engines from list;
  5. Go back to settings. On Startup choose open blank page ( you can remove undesired pages from the set pages link too).

Be more careful with your downloads and spam emails  in order to avoid such programs reaching your system. If you are installing some free program form the Internet, make sure you choose custom installation and follow each step of it. Before installing any new program to your computer, make sure you check if it’s a reliable application first.
