CryptoFinancial Ransomware - How to remove

CryptoFinancial Ransomware

CryptoFinancial ransomware is yet another headache to users who store valuable data on their PCs. In fact, anyone of us do have valuable files on our computers which are not stored elsewhere. And, here is where the problems begin. One day, just out of the blue, you are displayed locked screen with a ransom note on it when you launch your computer. Does it contain coins in the background? If yes, then it is a high probability that your machine have been infected with CryptoFinancial ransomware virus.

About CryptoFinancial Ransomware

CryptoFinancial ransomware does not encrypt but rather deletes the victim’s files. It scrambles a whole tribe of files: various formats of text, image, audio and video files, etc. When the encryption (=deletion) is over, the ransom message appears on the lock screen stating that not only the files but also important programs were locked. This is atypical of ransomware threats to make such allegations and to perform such misdeeds. So CryptoFinancial file-encrypter stands out as a different ball of wax. The size of the ransom demanded by CryptoFinancial cryptomalware is 0.2 BTC (Bitcoins) which is equal to 129.56 USD at the moment of writing this article. As you can see, it is not a whale of a payment, but still it would be sorry to loose such an amount of money anyway. Remember, cyber crooks are not the people of trust but rather of the evil.

How is CryptoFinancial Ransomware Spread?

CryptoFinancial virus belongs to the species of Trojan viruses. These malicious creatures of post-modern society take delight in sending false spam e-mails to the victim’s e-mail boxes. These e-mails cannot make the grade to arrive at your e-mail box at the inbox folder. Thus, you should not delve into the garbage of your electronic garden. Leave it for the e-mail program to clean it up for you. At least, that is for it exists. You will make a clean sweep yourself, if you adhere to this advice, at least for the future. Because the previously mentioned suspicious spam e-mails (be it from unknown senders or from supposed-to-be institutions or companies) contain malicious links and/or attachments with malicious files. Following the links or opening the files – either way leads to the crack of doom.

How to Decrypt Files Encrypted by CryptoFinancial Ransomware?

There is a swarm of ransomware viruses being created currently so, unfortunately, cyber security experts do not catch up with them. If you pay the ransom, you will fund the cyber crooks, consequently, more malicious programs will be created and spread. So bear this in mind also. So what can you do? You can use your backup. What if you don’t have it? Then, check Shadow Volume Copies. You were not running Shadow Volume Service? Use data recovery tools such as the products of Kaspersky Lab, Recuva, PhotoRec, R-Studio, etc. and wait for the decryptor by security experts to be released. There is nothing you can do more about it at the moment.

Please make sure to use CDs, DVDs, USBs, etc. to back your data up in the future. Before using the copies of your files or trying to restore them remove the actual malware, but just after you have made a copy of your infected drive (you may need your corrupted files to use on the decryptor). Spyhunter or Hitman are the perfect options for the removal of CryptoFinancial ransomware. After their scan, you can be sure that no malware-like creature is lurking in the darkest corners of your PC. Manual removal can also be implemented, just it does not give you guarantees regarding the purity of the system. Follow the guidelines below. Step 2. Complete removal of CryptoFinancial Ransomware

After restoring your system, it is recommended to scan your computer with an anti-malware program, like Spyhunter and remove all malicious files related to CryptoFinancial Ransomware. You can check other tools here.

Step 3. Restore CryptoFinancial Ransomware affected files using Shadow Volume Copies

If you do not use System Restore option on your operating system, there is a chance to use shadow copy snapshots. They store copies of your files that point of time when the system restore snapshot was created. Usually CryptoFinancial Ransomware tries to delete all possible Shadow Volume Copies, so this methods may not work on all computers. However, it may fail to do so. Shadow Volume Copies are only available with Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. There are two ways to retrieve your files via Shadow Volume Copy. You can do it using native Windows Previous Versions or via Shadow Explorer. a) Native Windows Previous Versions Right-click on an encrypted file and select PropertiesPrevious versions tab. Now you will see all available copies of that particular file and the time when it was stored in a Shadow Volume Copy. Choose the version of the file you want to retrieve and click Copy if you want to save it to some directory of your own, or Restore if you want to replace existing, encrypted file. If you want to see the content of file first, just click Open.

b) Shadow Explorer It is a program that can be found online for free. You can download either a full or a portable version of Shadow Explorer. Open the program. On the left top corner select the drive where the file you are looking for is a stored. You will see all folders on that drive. To retrieve a whole folder, right-click on it and select “Export”. Then choose where you want it to be stored.

Step 4. Use Data Recovery programs to recover CryptoFinancial Ransomware encrypted files

There are several data recovery programs that might recover encrypted files as well. This does not work in all cases but you can try this:
  • We suggest using another PC and connect the infected hard drive as slave. It is still possible to do this on infected PC though.
  • Download a data recovery program.
  • Install and scan for recently deleted files. Data Recovery Pro
Note: In many cases it is impossible to restore data files affected by modern ransomware. Thus I recommend using decent cloud backup software as precaution. We recommend checking out Carbonite, BackBlaze, CrashPlan or Mozy Home.
