CheapMe - How to remove

CheapMe is yet another adware that should be an useful application by the definition. Developers of this app declare that it should provide you with valuable shopping deals, discounts and other commercial offers and save both your time and money this way. However, this is not quite true due to the fact that those ads come from unknown third parties. That means there is no proof that they are valid. They can be fake and malicious. By the matter of fact, it is known that this those who advertise their products or services on CheapMe advertising network happens to be scammers or distributors of malicious software. That’s why CheapMe is listed as a PUP (potentially unwanted application). Those ads can come in various forms, such as pop-ups, pop-unders, banner or in-text ads. If you click on one of those ads, you will be immediately redirected to third parties website that may result in your computer being infected, because those websites can be corrupted. You may even lose your private data, such as credit card or bank account number this way. CheapMe works as a browser add-pin that can be added to all most popular web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Furthermore, once installed CheapMe will collect your personal information, such as browsing history, IP address or search queries and transfer it to the mentioned third parties. They use it to adjust their ads and make them more attractive to you. This is done to make you want to click on those ads, because CheapMe makes money this way. They generate web traffic and collect sales leads. Even though it is not a dangerous virus itself, it can lead you to some more serious cyber security problems, therefore it needs to be removed.

CheapMe is very similar to all other adware and so is its distribution method. It can be downloaded from its official website at cheapme.net but usually it is not the case, as this application travels bundled with other free software that can be downloaded from the Internet for free. I.e. When you download and install some freebies, there is  a chance that CheapMe was installed alongside without you even being aware of it. That being said, if you want to avoid this happening, you need to be very attentive during the installation of software downloaded from a website with a questionable reputation.
