Basicseek virus - How to remove

Basicseek virus

Basicseek virus is a browser hijacker that is promoted through other downloads and can enter your computer when you are downloading some free programs from the Internet. It modifies your browser settings and causes constant redirections to unknown websites that may cause more serious infections. The program changes your search engine to basicseek.com which, unfortunately, does not provide the most accurate search results and includes many sponsored websites instead. This way the creators of this hijacker increase the traffic to certain websites. They also try to get financial benefits by displaying various advertisements in there.

Basicseek virus collects information about your online activity. It tracks what websites you are visiting and later uses this data for marketing purposes. As a result, in future you may receive even more ads displayed on your computer. Beware that when clicking on certain links, you can be rerouted to compromised websites where you can get your system infected with malware programs. So even though Basicseek virus doesn’t damage your computer directly, it can lead to more serious problems.

It is not safe to keep Basicseek virus on your computer. You should first of all try to avoid it reaching your system. As already mentioned, the program mainly infects computers through other downloads. Be attentive when you are installing anything from the Internet.
