Some HP laptops are in danger of overheating and causing fire

Are you currently using one of the HP laptops? You might not know but these devices can pose as a threat to your physical health. HP company has issued a security program for their laptop batteries. According to the widely popular developing company, some of their devices can overheat and cause real fire. Therefore, HP laptop might cause burns and there are several reports suggesting that this threat is valid.

HP has created a software for users to check whether their laptops use dangerous batteries

It appears that the issue is relevant to computer owners that bought their devices between December of 2015 and December of 2017. This is a rather long time span for HP to ship and sell potentially dangerous items. However, now they are trying to make amends.

HP batteries can overheat

According to the company, this threat is not theoretical. Representatives have received reports about HP laptops overheating and becoming unusable. Most of malfunctioning equipment was modeled for Probook, Zbook, Pavilio, Envy, 11 and x360 laptops. Therefore, if you are using any of these models, it is important to check whether your device is not using the flawed battery packs.

To avoid general confusion and panic, HP decided to release software, designed to check whether a specific laptop is dangerous. If your computer is safe, then the program will tell you that there is no need to replace your battery. However, if the test comes out positive, your laptop has one of the malfunctioning batteries.

HP promises to replace the flawed batteries

To solve this issue temporarily, HP has released an update to put the battery in the Safe Mode, which means that it will not charge. Even though it might seem that people won’t be able to use their computers, this is not true. Even though the Safe Mode for the battery is turned on, users can still operate computers through AC input.

However, this is not a permanent solution to this issue. HP is generously providing battery replacements for all compromised users. Therefore, all you have to do is contact the appropriate technicians and ask for a safe battery. Even though HP computers are sold all over the world, the main focus is on the United States of America. This is because most of the reported incidents with these batteries were made by American people. However, if you are from a different country, HP will still provide you with a new battery.
