Adware
Adware (short for ADvertising softWARE) is a term for software that plays, shows or downloads any type of advertisements to a system after infection or while running.
Browser Hijacker
Browser Hijackers are computer parasites that, once installed onto your computer, begins to change your browser internet settings, such as homepage, search page, error pages and redirect the victim to the parasite creator’s commercial and/or marketing websites.
Rogue Anti-Spyware
Rogue (fake) anti-spyware is spyware that installs itself into your system, and presents itself as legitimate anti-spyware. Rogue Anti-Spyware uses fake warning messages and other scare tactics to trick a user into buying the parasite.
Remote administration tool (RAT)
Remote Administration Tools (RATs) are computer programs that allow their users to remotely connect to other computers and manage them from a distance without being noticed. RATs may be used for malicious purposes.
Trojan
A Trojan is virus-like malicious software that is usually embedded into other programs and/or files in order to install itself into a user’s system. The effects of a Trojan infection may include remote access to your computer, file and program infection and damage, private user information theft, etc.
Key logger
A keylogger is a program that logs the keystrokes you type into your keyboard and saves it to a predetermined file and/or transfers the data to a remote server/host. These parasites are used mostly with malicious intent.
Browser helper object (BHO)
A browser plug-in is a program that expands and updates your browser functionality, adding extra functions, skins, or just speeding up your internet browser. Some are known to be used for sinister purposes.
Worm
A worm is a self-replicating computer parasite, created for infection of multiple remote computers with purposes of system file corruption, overall system destabilization and user privacy violation.
