How to remove XPDefender?
What is XPDefender?
XPDefender is a rogue anti-spyware program. There have been a lot of these scams recently, and XPDefender is not any different: it is a fake spyware removal tool, which masquerades as a real one and employs scare tactics to convince users to buy it. XPDefender usually infects the system by using Trojans, such as Zlob. They usually come as media codecs from websites of dubious legitimacy by exploiting browser security holes.
Once inside and active, XPDefender begins flooding the user with popups and fake system notifications to misinform him about threats on the system. These threats can supposedly be removed by purchasing the "licensed version" of XPDefender and, considering the fact that there are more rogue anti-spyware scams today than ever, people must really buy them.
XPDefender’s homepage is one of those rare rogue websites, that I can’t immediately tell where it was stolen. However, it is only typical that they give me a hint, and not a subtle one at that: " For your security, Ultimate Defender databases are updated on a daily basis to keep up with the newest threats." They forgot to change the name. For those of you who do not know, UltimateDefender is also the same type of rogue spyware remover. XPDefender doesn’t provide us with contact information and, guess what, the payment system doesn’t have a front page. The domain is registered by an Andrei Chin from China. Now, first of all, China is not the place where you receive immediate credibility for making software (with the fact that most malware comes from China), secondly, I’ll be damned if "Andrei" is a Chinese name. It is most definitely Russian, which presents us with even more doubt about the product.
XPDefender is a scam: do NOT download or buy it and block xpdefender.com using your HOSTS file.

XPDefender is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only XPDefender can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads XPDefender trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, XPDefender offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, XPDefender does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.
Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as XPDefender, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install XPDefender, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.
Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as XPDefender, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
