Once upon a time, I had something called Security Tool on my computer. It is along the same lines as Antispyware XP. In order to temporarily disable the program, you had to boot the computer in safe mode (repetedly press f8 upon startup, or in MSCONFIG if not already disabled). Once in safe mode, you can use the internet to find/download/run antivirus and antimalware programs. Or, if you so choose, you can remove it manually, by following the directions above. If you decide to remove manually, make sure not to delete any other important files (like .dll) that could potentially mess up your system.

This thing totally sucks. I was experienced enough to know that thing was full of BS as soon as its little quick launch alert appeared. This occurred after my computer automatically restarted itself possibly due to the trojan. This is the toughest trojan I've ever encountered, 2nd is Vundo Variant which also required something like Unlocker Assistant to delete. It's not recommended to use such a method on this because it quickly repairs itself. So far it has redownloaded itself 3 times on my computer after what I thought were successful attempts by using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Each time however, my SpybotSearchandDestroy always detects a change in registry and even when I tell it remember to deny the change, it always asks everytime. My suggestion would be not to use the quick scan on the Malewarebytes' Anti-Malware. If that fails, get SpyHunter 3. I have yet to use the one provided on this website, but if all fails I'd have to go for it.

so i got it, tried to just do an uninstall of it, and it deleted every program on my C: drive. >.> bad news.. the "uninstall" link in the start menu, upon closer observation, is actually the install link. so ya.. imma reformat my C: and kill it! i know.. it's overkill.. but my files are already gone from my C: drive, not any other drive.. just my xp one. so it's not so bad. thanks! and BTW, don't get the learn japanese free software from gbatemp.com ;) ciao!

XP Antispyware is like the computer equivalent of AIDS, honestly. I've had it on my laptop about a week now and it just takes over everything uncontrollably. It started with a popup in the system tray every 45 seconds (red circle with white cross symbol) and now its totally fucked the whole system.
Every time I search google and click a result it opens a new tab with a totally different site. If I type for example www.mcafee.com or any antivirus site it won't display it, connection reset or some other excuse, but for example www.pepsi.com will work fine. The computer I would say is about 3x slower than normal, it has disabled task manager and I have tried and failed to install mcafee antivirus - it says I do not have administrative privileges, however I am the administrator. Its latest trick is to randomly restart the system, with absolutely no warning - it just shuts down, and a couple of hours ago when it restarted the desktop and taskbar appeared and although I could move the cursor around I couldn't click anything. The screensaver came on OK but I had absolutely no input at all, couldn't even highlight icons by clicking, start menu key, right click key and ctrl alt & del did not do anything. I turned off the power and now it won't turn on again.
This is a) an extremely annoying program, b) VERY cleverly designed, and c) EXTREMELY dangerous. It will take over your system and download all sorts of crap.
