How to remove Wind Optimizer?

June 10th, 2009

What is Wind Optimizer?

Wind Optimizer is a fake performance optimizer, a program that supposedly removes unnecessary files and does other things needed in order to make the system run faster. This parasite uses trojans, such as the infamous Zlob or Vundo, to enter the system. Wind Optimizer uses misleading advertising to trick users into thinking their systems are in need of tuning.

Once inside, Wind Optimizer acts much like a rogue anti-spyware program: it uses popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform the user of privacy and security issues. While these issues may indeed exist, Wind Optimizer has no way of taking care of them, and should therefore be ignored. Much like any other rogue, Wind Optimizer performs scans, which produce falsified results. It may also hijack the browser and significantly decrease system performance, which is the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to do.

Wind Optimizer is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block its homepage using your HOSTS file.
