Vista Home Security 2011 - How to remove

Vista Home Security 2011

Vista Home Security is a program that appears one of the members hailing from a huge family of malwares that change their name but look and act identically in order to steal users’ money. Vista Home Security 2011 infects targeted computer unexpectedly without any prior user action. It has been noticed to prefer backdoor methods to get inside the system and then have its malicious processes loaded upon every computer’s reboot. Ignore its alerts and scanners once you notice this intruder out of nowhere and remove Vista Home Security using a reputable anti-spyware.

Since Vista Home Security 2011 virus is a typical rogue, it will interrupt into your browsing just after you reboot your computer and start browsing. That’s because of some modifications that are done to the targeted PC’s Registry by dropping corrupt files in there. This scam tool can be predetermined to start popping up and also display numerous messages telling about many system problems that need to be fixed. It will be sure to ‘detect’ tons of dangerous parasites that do not even exist in fact. So, you should simply ignore them and NEVER remove anything what was reported by Vista Home Security. Some of such messages reporting invented viruses will read:

Privacy threat!

Stealth intrusion!

By creating a need of a ‘powerful’ remover, Win 7 Home Security 2011 will definitely offer its ‘licensed’ version which in reality is another useless tool having no positive capabilities:

This malware’s behavior may also involve notable CPU consumption and more viruses let inside to rip users off.  You should disagree with its offers to buy its licensed copy and also remove Win 7 Home Security using a reputable anti-spyware (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or spyhunter). If you won’t refuse to pay for it, you will find yourself completely ripped off. Manual removal

  1. I did a manual removal because this rogue program is blocking all access to Internet and I can’t activate the Spyware Doctor. And by deleting the registry keys, now all programs are non functioning. Not even regedit to put back the keys I’ve deleted! Any help?

  2. Sebastien: Try checking safemode. You might be able to launch system restore (run as administrator if you have).

  3. I used Avast instead and it got rid of it but all Windows programs are not functioning. I tried a system restore and it’s not better. Hopefully, it’s not on my computer, just trying to help someone. Might have to reinstall everything. This thing is evil, I can tell you that. The PC had over 150 infections…

  4. Sebastien: It messes up with file execution on windows. I heard that AVG does not fix .exe associations after “cleaning” this, it might be the case with AVAST as well.

  5. @admin
Maybe it’s just better to reinstall everything, this thing is a mess now…
If I knew what was the original values of those registry keys, I could fix it.

  6. Thanks so much for this info. It really helped. I found this article after I tried to buy the malware. I checked my bank account & there were no charges yet. I’m scared my account will be hacked. What would you suggest I do?

  7. Ash, if you went through the process of buying the malware, call the bank or credit card company you used and dispute the charge. Tell them what happened.

  8. Sabrina: Exploits in programs that display web pages or parts of it (adobe acrobat, flash usually, java, browser itself) or trojans in other programs.

  9. SD is free to download. when it identifies threats, you have 2 options: delete these threats manually (it lists files and registry entries) or use paid version (29 USD).

  10. Sebastian: and others. If you can not run .exe after this process you can do the following. Create a .reg file that contains the correct values for the keys that end in ‘.exe’. Then open the .reg file on the broken system. I used a non infected Vista machine and regedit to export those keys to a thumb drive. Then just opened them on the broken system.
My file ‘backup.reg’ after exporting the keys from a clean Vista contained:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
    @=”exefile”
    “Content Type”=application/x-msdownload”

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\PersistentHandler]
    @=”{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}”

I already have Malwarebytes anti malware on my computer but I am not able to open it. i have tried it opening in safe mode too but whenever i click on it nothing happens and it doesnt start. pls let me know what to do to get rid of this spyware.

  16. One of the best virus removers i have found to remove viruses similar to this is Malwarebytes anti-malware… Always works. Free download too.

Incidentally…can i use CCleaner to sort the registry for me?

  17. There is a trick to getting around its website block, if you right click your internet icon and click ‘run without add ons’ the virus will not block you. Although reading a few of these comments you could pick up other viruses browsing with this virus infecting you. Be careful.

  18. How do I like get rid of this virus permanetly? Its not letting me do anything at all. So can someone please explain how to uninstall it? I would appreciate it.

  19. Dave: MBAM, like most of comparable anti-spyware stuff work around 80% at the best, that i can claim from experience. 😉 But yeah, it is one of the best.

  20. this just happenoed to me literally minutes ago and i had no idea what was going on.. but from the beginning i figured it was a scam.. first it wouldnt let me go on the internet… unless it was to buy it ( that has scam written all over it) and then eventually i ran AVG virus scanner ( which is free ) and then my internet started working ! SO dumb.

  21. I just bought McAfee Total Protection to try and figure out what was on my computer and it was not finding anything. I researched and found this site and this is what i have and i can not get on the internet to download the spyware doctor to get rid of it. Is there someway i can get that on my computer without the internet or manual removal?

  22. If I enter the reg key from above, am I all set? What else if anything should i do? Please leave me baby steps

  25. Well ..hello again, after reading everyone’s comments on success and failure I was determined to get rid of this tried almost everything but it wouldn’t let me so this is what i did. I put on the task manager it let me do that then was looking at applications that ended in “exe” wow there is alot and after hearing that some deleleted all that ended in “exe” afterwards their computer wasn’t working. So, I looked up the ones that had a description similar to their process, under processes(in the task manager).Mine was kbs.exe I found it by keeping on the task manager and clicking on the internet explorer, here it came vista I went to task manager under applications clicked end now the pop up came saying kbs is not responding but i had to make sure this was it did it and watched on the processes sure enough it disappeared when vista went off ended that process and went on the internet and went to microsoft security essentials and this is free. Thank God it worked. Hope this helps someone. This was really a pain but I did it without deleting any important files. Scanned the computer with quick scan, the virus was Rogue and a trojan. After got rid of it I wasn’t taking any chances so I did a full scan this took about 5 hours depending on how many files you have it could take more or less. But now am free of the culprit.

  26. This is on my laptop now, I can’t access the Internet. Will McAfee be able to remove it?

  27. Dude, you just saved my life. I think I love you <3 Thank youuuuu soooooooooo much.

  28. I got this annoying thing too. My process was cAlled gtx.exe. I could not find this file by searching my pc. Trying to run my virus scanner or trying to open regedit wouldn’t work. Gtx.exe would end up running instead. I would kill the process on the task manager, but it would come back whenever trying to run these programs. Fortunately I already had malware bytes and was able to run itas admin. It immediately detected a registry entry for gtx.exe so I aborted and removed the entry. looks like its been taken care of as its not running on its own anymore. I’m running a full scan now to remove the actual files. This will take several hours .An option I didn’t think of till npw was going into msconfig and looking for anything suspicoous under startup and services.

  29. is it normal for this program to turn your computer off too. any time I try to fix it the computer turns off!!!

  30. Hi! I had this problem overnight and I downloaded Kaspersky and had it scan my system. After a while, the antivirus detected a malicious file that turned out to be a malware. I had it ‘repaired’ (im not sure if it’s the right term) then told me to restart my computer for the virus to be deleted. So I did it. And after restarting my computer, all the pop-ups and Vista Security Center 2011 didn’t appear anymore. I’m just wondering (and worried) if I totally deleted the virus? Please I need your help. Thanks a lot!

  31. Kaspersky is very good, it is likely that your PC is clean . I would scan with some emergency scanner as well. Either Hitman Pro or Emsisoft EEK.

  32. After remove the vista home security successfully by manual procedures, i cannot run any programs (internet, microsoft office.. etc), can u help and give a step by step procedure to work again the programs. pls… help me…

  33. Is there another way. i cannot understand what i can do… when i read it…… Is there any way to solve my problem . pls admin help me i really appreciate……

  34. ok i will try it…. If does not happen i inform you… thank you very much hope that solution can solve my problem and i will be so much thankful to you…

  35. Help
Just got this virus from Vista Spyware, I can go to IE and that’s it. If I try to download any spyware program you recommend, it can only open with adobe and won’t work. I cannot open any of my programs. If I do system restore, will I lose all of my saved files and programs?

  36. Admin: When i did the system restore the home vista security 2011 virus is also restore, any steps that i can do to remove security vista 2011 without affecting my exe file or programs……..

  37. Edwyn: Try moving system date to six days in the future. This family auto-deactivates after that.
Then scan with removal tools again.

  38. but the days that indicate in the system restore is only one the day when the virus appeared… system date where did i find there..

  39. Edwyn : do not use system restore. Just use regular system time (right-click on the clock in the status bar in the right. ).

  40. Hi there: I was hit by this Vista Security 2012 problem twice. I changed the date back a week the first one and then back dated on the second and then ran full scan of Glary Utilities on the second virus… so far so good.FYI

  41. Teresa : Upgrade your antivirus. If you are hit twice, it means either you have been reinfected (and your antivirus is not working properly) or you haven’t cleaned everything.

  42. I got the ‘plague’ and had to open everything as an administrator and dig it out under all the red alert boxes from this obnoxious Vista Security 2012 program. I ran Spyware Doctor only to realize I had to purchase it to get it to fix any problems. I ran cCleaner and then did a system restore point back 2 days ago. MIRACULOUSLY, it worked and my computer ‘appears’ to be OK.

  43. From what I have seen this horrible virus seems to limit itself to the user account being used. Make sure to have an admin account that’s password protected and user accounts for accessing the web. When my .exe files stopped working after cleaning up the virus I was able to move the data files to a new user account were my .exe files worked.

  44. so how do i get rid of vista home security?
Because it wont let me do anything. It wont let me skype or go on the internet or go on my itunes. Help,PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  45. ran m-bam deleted infected files restarted computer but I can’t get passed log in page even in safe mode it freezes before I can select an account
