i was just playing a game one day and then these anoying pop ups kept on coming up and i cant stop it please i beg of you all that read this please reply p.s its still happening

Hi!

Today I was using my cousins PC and suddently this virus came in while watching youtube videos.

I could tell it was a virus instantly but my cousin believed it had to be some new antivirus just he didnt remember when he installed lol

The problem was that not even the task manager could remain open for long before it was closed, but at least I could see the name of the program “protector.exe” and luckily the file explorer was ok so I searched for the exe and since i could not close it because it runs from start, all i could do was change the permisions in order to forbid all users from reading and executing, then I restarted and after reboot I just errased the file (since it didnot started this time)

Was gonna run clam AV from a linux live cd but the above was a fastest solution

but seriously windows security sucks big time If you ever get tired of this give linux a try, at least it works for a student like me (using Chakra linux)

Reboot into safe mode with networking and try removing Virus Protector there.

What You do is you click on New tasks in the Task Manager, CTRL+ALT+DEL. Then when you click on new tasks, you type in IExplorer @Kris

i tried this and it worked great
click f8 when starting computer.start windows in safe mode with command prompt
if using windows xp tyre in %windir%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
this should launch your pc to system restore-then go back to previuos point and restore
should be ok now

Hi everyone!
this way works for me!
1. run Windows in safe mode with Command Prompt
2. in the command prompt go to c:windows\ type explorer.exe and “enter” (explorer opens!)
3. in another pc, download “malwarebytes” (or other anti-malware program), and “hijackthis”
4. plug a external disk with the programs above to the infect pc and run them

@Alana Alana your Genius. Malwrebytes couldnt do it. THere wasnt any Reg Keys named like the removal sites say. This worked. Thanks!

@Mart, @Alana: Working on a friends older HP Laptop running XP32bit same problem as Tina & Doug–> ‘I tried going to safe mode with prompt and when I hit it , it just shows a big list and there is no where to type anything. The lines look like “multiple(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\Drivers\Mup.sys” ‘
Also can not get to task manager period. Friend has all files back-up on external drive . . so can we use the ability to switch to CD-rom boot first and then lay down new XPPRO OS, and then install and run Malabytes etc., or even run HouseCall? Thanks!

I have using win xp 32bit. After enter safe mode with prompt, after i type rsthui.exe it does not take an action. And the virus protector dont have any cloce botton on top. Have any one know how to remove manually?

i got windows vista and im looking for the Command Prompt…but i don’t see to find it everything i turn on my computer it says del:enter f10 i press f10 and a list comes out but there is no command promt botton in there and if i press f8 nothing comes out what else there is to dooooo plz someone help
