VideoX - How to remove

VideoX

VideoX was designed to let users of this application stream videos online in HD quality (or at least developers of VideoX present it this way). However, this piece of software is widely labeled either as an adware or a PUP (potentially unwanted program). And it’s not for no reason. As you could have guessed, once installed this tool will display various advertisements on your web browser. Most of the time those ads appear on e-commerce websites, like eBay or Amazon and offer you to purchase some particular goods at a better price rate. Sounds nice but you should not believe that. Due to the reason VideoX is an ad-supported platform, all those ads come from the third parties and therefore are fake. Furthermore, if you will decide to click on one of those ads, you will be immediately redirected to some website of the mentioned third parties that may be infected by cyber criminals and cause harm to your computer or operating system. Another annoying and even offensive attribute of VideoX is that it will collect your personal information, such as browsing history, search queries, Top visited sites or IP address and transfer it to the same third parties. They adjust their ads according to given information and make them more attractive to users that way.

VideoX makes money by generating web traffic and collecting sales leads. This is the only goal of this program. It works as a browser add-on that can be added to all most popular web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari, meaning that a range of infected users can be really wide. By most of cyber security specialists it is listed as a malicious software that you should remove right away and you should do so. VideoX uses unfair techniques to infiltrate into computers and once inside, it is not that easy to uninstall it.

VIdeoX is distributed bundled with other free applications. It gets installed behind your back and that’s why a lot of users may think that it is a virus. It is not a dangerous virus itself, but it can lead you to some serious cyber security problems. That being said, if you want to avoid this unwanted application installed on your computer, be very careful during the installation of freebies. Do not skip any steps of the installation wizard and opt out for a custom or advanced install mode. Look for hidden check boxes and make sure no additional unwanted applications will be installed. In case your computer is already infected, we highly recommend scanning it with a trustworthy anti-malware, such as Spyhunter or malwarebytes. It should detect and remove VideoX in no time. Otherwise, if you want to do it on your own, you may follow our step-by-step VideoX removal guide below.

How to get rid of VideoX

Using Control Panel to remove the main VideoX components and installers

  1. Go to Control Panel. On Windows XP/Vista/7 open Start -> Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall . On Windows 8 enter Control Panel in the search box, then look for Uninstall a program. You may need to confirm that you are the administrator on this PC, in both cases.
  2. Look for VideoX and /or similar looking items on the list of programs. By default, I recommend removing Yontoo, WebCake, anything “savings” or “coupon” related. Scanning with Anti-Malware programs like Spyhunter or Stopzilla might give a good idea of what programs you should remove from there as well.
  3. Close Control Panel.
