How to remove SystemCleanerPRO?

December 30th, 2009

What is SystemCleanerPRO?

SystemCleanerPRO is a rogue antivirus application, a clone of WinSpywareProtect malware. It deliberately displays false scan results to make you think that your computer has many security threats. This fake application is configured to start automatically when Windows starts, so it will show up every time you log on into Windows. SystemCleanerPRO will then display fake security alerts or pop-ups stating that it has detected serious infections and that you should run a system scan with System Cleaner PRO. After the fake scan this misleading application will display a list of infections that should be removed immediately, but supposedly this can be done only with a full version of the program. As you can see, it wants to trick you into purchasing the program. Obviously, you shouldn’t do that. It’s a typical scareware and a scam.

If your computer is infected with this virus, please read further instructions about how to remove SystemCleanerPRO. If you can’t remove some of its files make sure to end these processes first: sysclpro.exe and unins000.exe. The rogue may block anti-spyware applications, so that’s an important step. Of course, the removal process of this infection would be a lot easier if you use Spyware Doctor. Also note that if you have inadvertently purchased SystemCleanerPRO, please contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. Good luck!

SystemCleanerPRO is classified as Rogue Anti-Spyware. After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only SystemCleanerPRO can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. As soon as the victim downloads SystemCleanerPRO trial version, it pretends to scan your computer and shows a grossly exaggerated amount of non-existent errors. Then, SystemCleanerPRO offers to buy the full version to fix these false errors. If the user agrees, SystemCleanerPRO does not only fix the errors, but it also takes the user’s money and may even install additional spyware into the victim’s computer.

Some Rogue Anti-Spyware, such as SystemCleanerPRO, may offer users to buy it after the victim clicks on a banner or a pop-up while surfing the internet. Usually, a Trojan is installed to a victim’s computer after clicking on the advertisement. It then proceeds to download or even install SystemCleanerPRO, which is another way for Rogue Anti-Spyware to spread itself.

Most of rogue Anti-Spyware, such as SystemCleanerPRO, is nearly impossible to remove manually.
