How to remove System Guard 2009?

What is System Guard 2009?

System Guard 2009 is a new rogue anti-spyware program, a fake spyware remover, which uses scare tactics to trick the user into purchasing it’s "licensed version". This parasite usually enters the system by using trojans, such as Zlob or Vundo, which disguise themselves as Video ActiveX codecs.  System Guard 2009 can also be manually downloaded and installed from systemguard2009.com.

Once inside and active, System Guard 2009 will flood the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him of an infection or multiple infections present on the system. This may be true – the percentage of PCs infected with spyware is indeed high these days – but System Guard 2009 has neither the ability to detect nor remove them. The parasite’s ultimate goal is to get the user to purchase it’s full version, which is no more real than the trial. Among it’s other dirty tricks, System Guard 2009 might hijack the browser and perform fake system scans.

SystemGuard2009.com, the home of this parasite, is a typical rogue website with no useful content and no reliable contact information. The "download" link doesn’t work for some reason… Contrary to the website’s claims, it was only created January 12, 2009.

System Guard 2009 is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it’s homepage using your HOSTS file.

After infecting a user’s system, it proceeds to scare its victim into buying the “product” by displaying fake security messages, stating that your computer is infected with spyware and only System Guard 2009 can help you to remove it after you download the trial version. How to tell if your PC has been infected by a Rogue Anti-Spyware such as System Guard 2009?

Numerous undesirable and annoying pop-ups: A typical Rogue Anti-Spyware parasite keeps track of your internet browsing habits, sending your browsing history data to remote servers, owned by third party companies that use this information to advertise their products via numerous pop-ups, toolbars, hijacked homepages and spam letters. All these undesirable advertising methods are used on the victims of Rogue Anti-Spyware.
Changed or new icons: Sometimes, Rogue Anti-Spyware installs unwanted software to a victim’s PC without user’s knowledge and consent. This may lead to slower PC performance and stability, as well as more unwanted programs you can't remove.

try asking your cc provider to issue a chargeback because of their bad business practice.

if that doesn’t work, post the serial key for it someplace.

Well, posting serial key is counter-productive. As serial key for System Guard 2009 does not work, it is a scam. Contact your bank.

Manual removal is a pain but not that difficult, makes me wonder that the law should be getting involved, but my way of dealing with this was to remove the spy ware and bill the business for time and labor at 65 an hour…
